In his 1958 book on the French wave of 1954, Aimé Michel indicated that an observation had occurred on October 9, 1954, in Nice, according to the Parisian newspaper Le Figaro for October 11, 1954.
In their 1979 book, ufologists Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon indicated that in Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes on October 9, 1954, during the night, Mr. soulié, an EDF - National Power co. - employee, had observed a full moon-like disk leaving a glowing trail.

The two authors and ufologists indicate that in Nice in the Alpes-Maritime department on October 9, 1954, during the night, Mr. Soulié, EDF [national power co] employee, observed a disc resembling the full moon and leaving a luminous trail.
The authors indicate that the source is "La Montagne" in October 1954.

The Belgian ufologist indicates in her catalogue that in 1954, on October 9 in France in St Chamas and Nice, "at 20:15 one observes in St Chamas a disc letting out a very thick smoke of fire color, which disappears suddenly by taking altitude above Nice. At 23:15 Mr. Valicale observes in Nice a luminous craft moving at high speed towards the south. Mr. Soulié observes a disc resembling the full moon and leaving a luminous trail."

Luc Chastan indicates in his database that in the Alpes Maritime in Nice on October 9, 1954, at an unknown hour, "during the night a witness observes a disc resembling the full moon and producing a luminous trail."
