Summary:

The regional newspaper La Vendée Libre for October 17, 1954, reported under the headline "La Caillère" - "The flying saucers":

Mr Gabriel Chupeau, mason resident of Le Paillat, claims to have see, in the night of saturday, the myterious elongated apparatus which haunts all the minds.

In the 2000s, on his website Les Mystères de Vendée, Jérôme Choloux listed this case, giving the date as October 9, 1954.

Mr Gabriel Chupeau, mason resident of Le Paillat, claims to have see, in the night of saturday, the myterious elongated apparatus which haunts all the minds.

[Ref. bbr1:] GERARD BARTHEL AND JACQUES BRUCKER:

The two authors indicate, in order to illustrate their opinion on the poor content of the saucer reports in the press, the following extract of which they indicate that the source is the newspaper La Vendée Libre for October 17, 1954

"Mr Gabriel Chapeau, mason, resident of Paillat, claims to have seen the mysterious machine which haunts all the brains."

Further on, the two authors note this case of October 16, 1954:

"La Caillère-Saint-Hilaire - 85 - night: no investigation."

And finally they comment about the witness: "how lucky he was, if only he had been a ufologist."

Luc Chastan indicates in his database that in the Vendée in La Caillère St Hilaire on October 9, 1954 at an unknown hour "a witness living in Paillat, affirms to have seen during the night, an elongated craft."
