According to the ADRUP ufology group, the regional newspaper Le Bien Public for October 12, 1954, reported that in the afternoon and evening of October 9, 1954, dozens of people "absolutely worthy of faith" claimed to have seen in Châlon and Mâcon, "one of those famous 'sub-cups' that some claim to be flying."
In the regional newspaper Le Courrier de Saône-et-Loire for October 11, 1954, I found this report describing the observation of several residents of Chalon-sur-Saône, who saw a "mysterious object moving in the direction of Gergy" at high altitude on October 9, 1954, around 8:00 p.m.
One of the witnesses described the event to the newspaper:
"I was alerted by one of my neighbors. She pointed out the sky in the direction of Gergy. I saw, indeed, at a high altitude, an object that looked like a large star; this object was moving while emitting yellow and green lights."
The newspaper thout that this phenomenon is "inexplicable, as the object in question did not resemble an airplane flying at night."

Are the raids of flying saucers going to intensify in our region? In any case, several of our compatriots saw a mysterious object on Saturday evening, around 08:00 p.m., moving in the direction of Gergy at a high altitude.
One of these witnesses provided us with details:
"I was alerted by one of my neighbors," he said. "She pointed out the sky in the direction of Gergy. I saw, indeed, at a high altitude, an object that looked like a large star; this object was moving while emitting yellow and green lights."
This phenomenon is inexplicable, as the object in question did not resemble an airplane flying at night.
On Saturday afternoon, a crowd gathered on the St-Laurent bridge, around Mr. Colombiès and Mr. Vernusse, two residents of Mâcon who were the first to spot a dark disk in the sky over Mâcon. The phenomenon disappeared fairly quickly. Could it be the flying saucer seen and photographed in the sky over Lyon?
