In the regional newspaper Le Quotidien de la Haute-Loire for October 8, 1954, one reads that in Bouix near Thueyts in the Ardèche department, a shepherd claimed to have seen "Monday" - therefore on October 4, 1954 - around 3 p.m., at the top of the mountain, a triangular craft from which alphabetical letters were suspended.
The newspaper asked: "Was it the alphabet of "Mars", a formula of salvation or a declaration of war? The shepherd Mr. Beydon, obviously could not decipher the message."

In Bouix close to Thueyts in the Ardeche, a shepherd claims to have seen Monday towards 3 p.m., at the top of the mountain, a triangular machine to which were suspended alphabetical letters. Was this the alphabet of "Mars", a formula of salutation or a declaration of war? The shepherd Mr. Beydon, obviously could not decipher the message.
The story seems to make no sense; at best I smay uggest that the shepherd saw a helicopter with its markings; which would not have been "suspended", but on the craft.
