In the 1950s, a French archivist, Guy Quincy, interested in the question of the "flying saucers," compiled a very summarized catalog of sightings in France, without source references.
One of the recorded cases was that on October 3, 1954, at 11:15 p.m., in Saint-Maixent-l'Eglise in the Deux-Sèvres (now Saint-Maixent-l'Ecole), a luminous object was seen.
