In the 2000s, ufologist Luc Chastan indicated on his website Base OVNI France that in the Hérault department in Mauguio, on September 30, 1954, at 5:00 p.m., two witnesses "at least one of whom was a pilot observed at a distance of between 1 and 3 kilometers, a cigar-shaped object. It moved by making sharp turns at a speed well below 500 kmph."

Luc Chastan indicated that his source was the since disappeared website of Claude Poher, former leader of GEPAN.

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Hérault in Mauguio, on September 30, 1954, at 17:00 hours, "Two witnesses among them at least one pilot observed at a distance between 1 and 3 kilometers, an object in the shape of a cigar. It moved by making abrupt turns at a speed largely lower than 500 km/h."

Luc Chastan indicates that the source is "Les Universons par Poher Claude

Unidentified, insufficient information.

In the 1970's, Claude Poher built up a computer catalog of UFO sitghing reports in France whose witnesses included officials such as policemen, pilotes, etc. The catalog was üpurely desined for statistics, providing no narratives.

The indication that one of the witnesses was a pilote does not mean that the sighting occurred on board of a plane.
