Summary:

F. Diolez of the Cercle Vosgien Lumières Dans la Nuit ufology group compiled a catalog of Vosges cases in November 1984, with the help of François Lagarde.

This catalog indicates that on Tuesday, January 26, 1954, at 04:45 (local time) (a.m.), André Pierret and Mr. Parlementot were witnesses of an observation published in an article of the newspaper La Liberté de l'Est for January 28, 1954 :

"Tuesday at 4.45, Mr. André Pierrat 101 street of Lorraine went to his work. Little after the coffee shop GOL where the horizon is largely clear he looked up automatically and had his attention drawn by a shining point which, coming from the East moved towards MIRECOURT at a very great speed. Arrived above the city it stopped and set out again almost at once by illuminating all the sky of an unusual gleam. It stopped again little after at the same time as all gleam died out and took again its travel to disappear in the direction of MIRECOURT. The whole having lasted a few seconds. Mr. PARMENTELOT was also witness of this observation."

The author of the catalog indicates that this is the full article, that there was another sighting the same day in Nomexy, suggests to see this following case in his catalog, and comments that what is "again a very fast light dot" could be "Explicable?"

It certainly is, since a meteor was widely seen in the Côte-d'Or and in the Vosges departments at that time.

Explicable?
