September 24, 1954, Besançon, Doubs:

Summary:

In 1966, ufologist Aimé Michel indicated in the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit that Jacques Vallée, who was looking for observations of September 24, 1954, on the "BAVIC" line, had told him to have found new ones, including one in Besançon.

Reports:

[Ref. aml3] AIME MICHEL:

Writing about the alignment of observations Bayonne-Vichy for September 24, 1954, he thought he discovered, Aimé Michel noted:

I had, at the end of my investigation in 1957, found nine points in all. Searching for years, Jacques Vallée found five others.

It turns out that on five additional observations one (Sierra de Gardunha, Portugal) is situated on Bavic, which thus becomes a seven-point alignment of enormous improbability, and that the other four (Vierzon, Clermont-Ferrand, Besançon and Grenoble) form two new alignments.

Explanations:

Map.

Aimé Michel had thought to have found, among others, an alignment of sightings on September 24, 1954, in France, on a line from Bayonne to Vichy, thus named "BAVIC."

This alignment has since been refuted by other ufologists, the primary reason being that these observations did generally not even occur on the date of September 24, 1954.

For this case, it is obvious that the data is so meager that I cannot say anything. Vallée, like Mcihel, was sometimes mistaken about the date, the places were not always precise, and they took into account "aligned" observations that had obvious trivial explanations, as for example the passage of a meteor.

So I note here that according to these ufologists there was an observation in Besançon on October 24, 1954; but it may have been without strangeness, its date may have been erroneous, and that no other source than I have been able to find so far mentions it.
