Summary:

In his 1958 book on the 1954 French flap, Aimé Michel noted that on September 23, 1954, there was an observation in Asnières. Michel did not say much about it, except that the sighting was by railwamen from Asnière who saw sharp moving gleams towards Le Jou.

According to an American Website from the 2000s, ufologist Jacques Vallée noted this observation in his computer catalog, placing it at 10:00 p.m., with four witnesses in a car, and / or on a farm.

Reports:

[Ref. aml1:] AIME MICHEL:

Aimé Michel notes that on September 23, 1954, there was an observation in Asnières, by railwaymen.

He wrote that these were odd luminosities that seemed to spring from the ground or from a spot on the ground that would be too low to be seen, or hidden by the forest of Vilaines.

He commented that it could not be a St. Elmo fire because seen on a sector too large and seen landing and going away, nor a helicopter because according to the report from Jou it would have had extraordinary headlights.

Explanations:

Map.

Totally insufficient information.

The hint in [uda1] of a car, the duration, and the four witnesses, makes me suspect that [uda1] actually refers to the sighting at Jou that night, whereas for Michel, this would be the same phenomenon seen by other witnesses.

There were several sightings - with approximate witnesses locations - that same nightin the Bourges area:

The Moon had set at 05:00 p.m. and rose only at 2:45 a.m. the next morning.
