Summary:

The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord , in the local issue of Cambrai for October 21, 1954, reported that "Monday" - therefore October 18, 1954 - "at 9:05 p.m. exactly" , three people had seen, "at an altitude of about 150 meters, passing over the town and heading east, an orange ball leaving a trail of blue flames behind; but it must be said that this was only visible for a few seconds."

The newspaper wondered wether this was a flying saucer.

LIGNY-EN-CAMBRESIS

WAS IT A SAUCER?

Monday, at 9:05 p.m.exactly, three people saw, at an altitude of 150 meters, passing over the town and heading east, an orange ball leaving a trail of blue flames behind; but it must be said that this was only visible for a few seconds.

Explanations:

Carte.

Probably the 8:45 p.m. meteor.

Certainly we are told that it occurred "exactly 9:05 pm"; but it is not sure at all that this information is reliable. The description in any case is very much a description of a meteor.
