In the 1990's, ufologist and author Jean Sider discovered this case in the newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain of October 21, 1954, the case being located as Ancy, Jouy-aux-Arches, the Moselle department, October 18, 1954 towards 05:00 P.M.. Jean Sider provides the contents of the newspaper's article as follows:
"Several inhabitants of Jouy-aux-Arches confirmed to have seen Monday from 04:30 p.m. to 05:00 p.m., appearing posed at mid height above Ancy, a dazzling sphere of white color, whose glare disappears gradually while changing color: red then blue, and finally green. It became a simple luminous point, and this phenomenon got under way slowly towards the south."

Spheres, luminous cones or cigars, discharging of batteries, dancing colors, etc., between the 1st and the 21st of October 1954, some twenty testimonies and observations of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) were collected in the Moselle, the more particularly in the communes of Vergaville, Bidestroff, Kerprich, Guébling, Morsbach, Moncourt, Saint-Avold, Saint-Quirin and Jouy-aux-Arches.
Possible balloon or military drill flare.
