October 18, 1954, Castelnaudary, Aude:

Reference for this case: 18-Oct-54-Castelnaudary.
Please cite this reference in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

In January 1981, ufologist Fernand Lagarde, mentioning observations in France in 1954, noted a sighing of October 18, 1954, in Castelnaudary in the Aude.

Reports:

[Ref. fle1:] FERNAND LAGARDE:

This ufologist indicates that on October 18, 1954, there was an observation in Bram, Villasavary and Castelnaudary.

In Bram and Villasavary, residents of these two communes said they had seen at the same hour three craft that moved in the sky while often changing color, and in Castelnaudary it was the same phenomenon.

The source is said to be "LDLN #83 July/August 1966."

Explanations:

Map.

Fernand Lagarde must have mixed up things. Indeed, in the source he indicates, "LDLN No. 83 July-August 1966", the only reference to an observation in Castelnaudary comes from a clipping of an article in the newspaper L'Indépendant, of the Pyrénées-Orientales, for August 30, 1965, anout an observation of the day before.

As I found no other source for this alleged observation, I conclude that it is a non-event.
