Summary:

In his 1997 book on the French wave of 1954, the French ufologist and author Jean Sider indicated that he discovered in the newspaper La République Nouvelle for October 1954 22, an observation that he dates between the 18th and the 21st of October 1954, occurring in Sermoyer in the ain department; he gave the article content as:

"After Arbigny, it happens that Sermoyer, a nearby village, has just been flown over by the Martians. This is at least what Mrs. Jeanne Doucet ensures, whom returned from her fields at approximately 05:00 P.M. She saw a brilliant ball of the size of a barrel, which drove at a sharp pace in the meadows. Very frightened, Mrs. Doucet ran to her farm and told the fact o a neighbor, Mr. Mariller, who immediately went on the spot. But the Martians had disappeared, undoubtedly to return o their remote planet."
