The regional newspaper La Liberté du Morbihan for August 19, 1954, reported this:
A craft of the type commonly called a "flying saucer" was reportedly seen in the sky over Lorient on Friday evening around 9:30 p.m. by a few passers-by on Ratier Street.
The craft, oval in shape, was moving sideways at very high speed, leaving behind it a luminous trail that disappeared immediately after its passage.
