Summary:

In his 1997 book on the 1954 French wave, French ufologist and author Jean Sider indicated that an article from the newspaper L'Independent du Louhannais, of Louhans, for October 16, 1954 on page 4, told that on October 12, at 06:30 a.m. on the road of Dijon, in Louhans in the Saône-et-Loire, "a second mysterious machine which had, this time, the shape of a mushroom", is said to have been seen by several inhabitants of the district of Le Guidon:

"Mr. Charles Moine, employee with the Guillemaut Saltings, and living on the road of Dijon, stated that Tuesday morning towards 06:30, whereas he was in his courtyard, he observed, posed at the edge of the railway located near his residence, a luminous machine, like a mass of fire having the shape of a mushroom, which then rose in the sky. Mr. Moine went to awake his wife and to warn a neighbor, then all three, according to what was brought back to us, could observe for a few moments this... phenomenon."

French ufologist and author Jean Sider learned in an article from the newspaper L'Independent du Louhannais, of Louhans, for October 16, 1954 on page 4, that on October 12, at 6 hours 30 of the morning on the road of Dijon, in Louhans in the Saône-et-Loire, "a second mysterious machine which had, this time, the shape of a mushroom", is said to have been seen by several inhabitants of the district of Le Guidon:

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Saone et Loire in Louhans on October 12, 1954 at 6:30 hours "the witness observes whereas he had come out in his yard an object in the shape of a mushroom like on fire which rose in the sky. The latter was posed at the edge of the railway line. The witness could warn his wife and a witness and all three attended the end of the phenomenon."

The source is indicated to be: "Lumières dans la Nuit".

Explanations:

Map.

The problem is that this "mushroom-shaped ball of fire" could be a meteor coming from behind the horizon.

This is not certain, however, since the quoted witness reportedly would have had time to wake up his wife and alert a neighbor; and that I have no other report that could confirm this was a meteor.
