I am not particularly interested in Ufo's but I had the chance to see one of them in October 1974, in full day. I was harvesting grape in St Maximin in Provence with friends. We observed it all the 3, as all the team - some twenty people - who worked with us.

If I remember well the object resembled a conical disc flat below («upside down») very broad, connected by a luminous ray to another disc located definitely lower, underneath it, and of the same shape but smaller. It is possible that another person remembers the object in a slightly different manner, for my memory is not excellent. But I am completely sure that they were two spherical objects connected by what appeared to be a luminous ray. The 2 objects were motionless in the sky above us, and once that we noticed them, we all stopped working and observed them during 5-10 minutes. The way in which they then suddenly moved was surprising: as if there had been no progressive acceleration and that they reached their speed of flight immediately. They disappeared almost immediately.

In the evening we heard during hours a whistle or an unusual vibration. Thereafter, we heard say that these objects had hovered above Arles the same day we had seen them and had been observe by tens or hundreds of people, for they could be seen very clearly from the center of the city. It seems to to me that we heard this account on the radio, for it seemed to come from a semi-official source. The same report declared that the largest object measured a hundred (or several hundreds of meters, I am not sure any more).

I hope that it will be relatively easy to find reports on this incident.
