The article below was published in the daily newspaper Var-Matin - République, France, on January 19, 1966.
A young carpenter from Bolazec, a small town located to the south-east of Morlaix, on the border of Finistère and the Côtes du Nord, claims to have seen up close the movements of a flying saucer during the night from Saturday to Sunday, which came to land a few metres from its "dauphine" [car]. Mr. Eugène Coquil, 23, recounted his adventure:
"It was 4 a.m. and I was driving on the Morlaix-Calbac road when I saw the beams of light from what I immediately thought was a tractor, because only a tractor could drive at that location. But what could it be doing at that time? I stopped my car and set off across the field towards these lights. That's when I saw the "thing" coming towards me, in complete silence, and skimming over an embankment. I got scared and sped off towards my "dauphine", but the "thing" followed me and, after hovering above my car, it landed a few meters away, on a road center reservation.
I could have gone to see, but I was too scared. However, I was able to get a closer look at the machine, which seemed much larger to me. It was lit externally by four light columns resembling the lights of a "404" [car] with a light identical to that of the neon signs. I did not see anyone, but I am almost certain that there were portholes on the side. When I managed to start, the machine remained there. I had only one idea: to leave as quickly as possible."
Mr. Eugène Coquil, who is a balanced, serious and very sober boy, had never believed, until now, in the stories of flying saucers...
