The article below was published in the daily newspaper Var-Matin - République, France, on December 17, 1974.
A Toulon shopkeeper, living in the Calabre district – la Vallette – alerted the Sveps managers on the morning of October 30, 1974, of mysterious traces that he had found not far from his home.
The Sveps immediately organized an investigation "by combing through" the terrain on which traces were indeed visible. The Sveps investigators took photos and samples and noted an abnormal magnetism on site. These samples were sent to a chemistry laboratory which gave a rather surprising report. The Sveps will only give the results it has obtained after several months because a scientific investigation is a very serious matter.
However, the Sveps is launching an appeal to anyone who may have been a visual or auditory witness to an "abnormal" manifestation at the end of October in this region.
It seems unthinkable that, if a UFO landed in the commune of Valletta on the night of 29 to 30 October 1974, no one would have noticed anything abnormal.
