A mechanic employed in Reims stated that during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, while returning home by motorcycle to Chatelet-sur-Retourne around half past midnight, he noticed in the beam of his headlight a craft resting in a field. It had the shape of a large shell about 2.5 meters high and around ten meters long. Near the craft stood a man whose height may have been about 1.5 meters.
Struck by this apparition, the mechanic, Mr. Joseph Roy, only regained his composure several kilometers later; during that time he had continued riding at reduced speed. Traces were reportedly found the next day at the location indicated by Mr. Roy.
