Since this morning, the stations of Redon, Questembert, Vannes, and Auray have been in a stir.
Indeed, last night at 11:40 p.m., the driver and the mechanic of a locomotive coming from Nantes saw a luminous craft in the sky over Redon.
Some believe it was a "flying saucer."
We were able to speak with the two men at the Auray station depot, where they were resting: Mr. Gérard, from Savenay, and Paroux, living on Boulevard des Poilus in Nantes. Both belong to the S.N.C.F. depot in that city.
The news had already caused a sensation.
In the depot room in Auray, we met the staff sergeant commanding the Auray gendarmerie brigade, who had just been alerted by the Vannes Company.
More talkative than his companion, Mr. Gérard—who was also the first to see the saucer—explained:
"The engine was running at 90 km/h when, about 4 km from Redon, my attention was drawn by a strange light on my left.
"I then saw, above the marshes, a luminous object about 300 meters in the air. It had the shape of a cigar, about 4 meters long, and was bluish-violet in color.
"It seemed to be stationary at that moment. Suddenly, four pinkish jets shot out diagonally from the object, causing it to rise very rapidly, vertically.
"My companion barely had time to notice the phenomenon, as it lasted no more than 10 seconds."
Without wanting to pass judgment on this strange vision, we can only attest to the tone of complete sincerity in the two men's statements.
Their account also seems to echo those made in recent days by other credible witnesses about similar "phenomena."
