London. -- The pilot of a Viscount said that during a flight at 20,000 feet he saw a luminous, globe-shaped object heading towards him at a speed of over 500 miles an hour.
"I have never seen anything like it," said Captain Gordon Pendleton. "The object passed about a thousand feet below me. I have always been sceptical about flying saucers. However, if it had been an aircraft I would have seen the wings." Another Viscount officer, Peter Murray, also saw the "bright and irregularly shaped" object. An Aer Lingus spokesman added that an unidentified object had been seen in the sky southwest of Bristol.
