Without hits saucer...

A "Martian" was walking around
in the wood of Lewarde

It is a very odd adventure which has just happened to a brave miner from Sin-le-Noble, Mr. Casimir Stawski, 33 years old, living in the Cité du Niveau, alley D. 31.

Mr. Stawski is not a little prankster. He is a balanced man who outside his profession has made a solid reputation as an informed pigeon fancier.

The other afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., he was in the wood of Lewarde, located 300 meters from the road from Roucourt to Erchin.

p>120 meters from the edge, he was peacefully picking up chestnuts, when he saw, protruding from a thicket, two tubes shining like nickel. Mr. Stawski thought the guard was ambushed, and hid behind a tree. Then he thought that he was doing nothing wrong and left his hiding place to move on. He then saw a sort of mane and thought he was dealing with an animal or an old vagabond. Having moved closer, he suddenly found himself in the presence of an extraordinary being.

His height was a little over a meter. Strongly built, his head, with slanted, protruding eyes, was surmounted by a sort of fawn-colored mane which descended on his shoulders. The body was also covered with hair that covered the feet. He wore a bead above his eyebrows; his hands were shiny and closed; they were holding two shiny tubes that had intrigued Mr. Stawski at first.

Strongly impressed by this apparition, he quickly turned around and fled.

Mr. Stawski went to tell the gendarmerie about his unexpected encounter with "the Martian".

And for now, this spooky story, which seems to be taken from the great novelist Wells' "War of the Worlds", ended there.
