A child chased by a flying saucer

MONLUÇON, October 30 (A.F.P.). — The gendarmes of Huriel came to collect the testimony of a farmer’s wife from Mesples, Mrs. Gentil, in whose house a 14-year-old schoolboy had sought refuge yesterday morning, entering while shouting:

"Come quickly, I'm scared, a saucer is chasing me."

Mrs. Gentil stepped out onto her doorstep and at first saw nothing. Then, scanning the sky, she too spotted a disc three times larger than the sun, tinted red and violet, spinning rapidly on itself before suddenly vanishing.

Jean-Pierre Coubret, residing in Saint-Palais (Allier), was riding his moped to his middle school in Huriel when, around 8 a.m., he saw, he said, just outside the village of Mesples, a large disc facing the sun which suddenly started moving, approaching the earth at great speed.

The boy, curious, stopped to observe the phenomenon. Notably, the saucer was in a vertical rather than horizontal position. It appeared as a large silver-colored disc, glowing alternately red and violet, leaving a luminous trail in its wake.

The schoolboy had the clear impression that the craft was diving toward him. Terrified, he jumped on his moped and turned back, heading for Mesples, where he entered the first farmhouse he came across.
