LE MANS, October 9 ("France-Soir" dispatch).
A milk collector from Le Mans, Mr. Alexandre Tremblais, was driving his truck yesterday morning on a small road near Saint-Jean-d'Assé (Sarthe) when he suddenly noticed that the engine stopped and the headlights went out.
Mr. Tremblais got out of his truck and saw a red and blue luminous "cigar," about one meter long, speed by overhead and disappear on the horizon. A few minutes later, the engine restarted normally and the headlights came back on.
ABBEVILLE, October 9 ("France-Soir" dispatch). — Another false saucer! The mysterious object that exploded in the Picardy sky and whose debris scattered in a field in Boismont, near Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme, was nothing more than a weather balloon.
The local residents, fearing the infamous "paralyzing green ray," dared not approach the debris. Only Mr. Raymond Boucher, a sugar factory worker, had the courage to examine the “saucer.” It turned out to be a balloon used by the Royal Air Force's meteorological services that had burst loudly upon hitting the ground.
A GLOWING MUSHROOM landed on the road, beneath the windows of Mr. Edouard Thébault, 36, a farmer in Béruges (Vienne). A few seconds later, the object turned off and a huge beam swept across the road. When the witness returned with his father, whom he had gone to fetch, everything had vanished.
SEVERAL FISHERMEN and the entire family of a fishmonger saw in the sky above Plozévet (Finistère) a bright light surrounded by thick smoke. This light, initially motionless, moved toward them at an altitude of about ten meters. It appeared as an orange sphere.
A WHISTLING CRAFT, gray in color, briefly hovered about 100 meters above Chasseneuil (Indre). The object then sped off, leaving behind what looked like mist.
In the same town, a young man saw a luminous object, reddish-orange in color, moving in a north-south direction.
A HEMISPHERICAL DOME OF ALUMINUM COLOR, lit from within, and located about three meters from the road and one meter above the ground, was seen in Jettingen by Mr. René Ott, an employee of the national railway company (S.N.C.F.). Frightened, Mr. Ott fled. He claimed, however, to have had time to see a door opening in the craft. It then moved about 800 meters above him before vanishing. The gendarmes found no trace.
A SILENT CRAFT, rotating like a spinning top, was seen in Calais above the municipal theater by a police officer, a hairdresser, a taxi driver, and a butcher. It flew off in the direction of the sea.
A FLYING SAUCER rising silently straight up was seen in Vigneux (Seine-et-Oise) by Mr. Marais yesterday at 9 p.m. It was luminous and had portholes.
