UFOs in the daily Press:

Crop circle hoax in Germany, 2002:

The article below was forwared to me by a visitor of my website, I do not have the exact information about the newspaper who released this AFP communiqué, maybe the "Bild." The date is October 11, 2002.

BERLIN (AFP), 10/11/2002

In July, a crowd of curious people and UFO "experts" rushed to a field in Schoenwalde, Germany, where a mysterious circle had been drawn in flettened corn plants. In fact, it was the reproduction of a giant pizza pie by a facetious television team.

As revealed it this week, the team of "Stern TV" at the origin of the joke, it is a pizza pie with sections of tomato and salami which was used as model with the drawing, increased then on the scale 1:100.

Four hours in the night were sufficient to lay down the corn using tree trunks and to cause a small sensation on the following day's morning.

The farmer owner quickly knew how to benefit from it: as curious people rushed to the field, he had then asled for payment for the access to the field and had started to sell sausages and souvenir articles.

Specialists in ufology and scientists who then advanced the most extraordinary explanations, some even claiming that there were natural electrical phenomenon.

"We simply wanted to show that one should not believe everything," commented Guenther Jauch, German TV show host at the origin of the joke, questioned Friday in the Bild daily newspaper.

Thanks to this reader who forwarded this article by email with the following comment: "we have found the truth about the extraterrestrials, they are pizzas!!" I failed to found information on the "specialists in ufology and scientists who then advanced the most extraordinary explanations, some even claiming that there were natural electrical phenomenon," in this circle's case.
