NOVEMBER 25, 1978, TRIER, RHEINLAND-PFALZ, GERMANY, PAM OWEN, HER HUSBAND:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Coming from the tabloid sensationalist National The Enquirer or from one Richard Sifried, a story says that on November 25, 1978, close to Trier, Germany, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Pam Owens, 19 years old, her husband Chris, soldier, and her 20 month old son Brian, drove to return home after having visited friends.

They saw a metallic-looking oval object, in rotation, with a red twinkling light, hovering above the car.

They arrived home with 20 minutes or 90 minutes of delay - depending to the source - on what would have usually be a 30 minutes trip.

Pam Owens later underwent "hypnotic regression", and then "remembered" to have been lifted by the UFO and examined by two extraterrestrial beings, things she did not "remember" before the hypnosis.

When the object had appeared, she would have pulled off of the road and stopped on the side, and the "next thing" she "remembered" was to be on a table, paralysed, unable move her arms or her legs, but able to move her eyes.

The two beings are described as being 2.40 meters tall, having enormous bald craniums, enormous eyes, very deep-set, a green skin which seemed rough, like the wrapping of a mummy, which covered their body, four fingers at each hand which were twice as long as human fingers.

As she wondered where her son was, a thin voice answered, "we take care of him." Asking for news of her husband, the voice repeated that all was very well. Then the two creatures appeared. One told her that all would be well but it did not move its lips. They raised her shirt and touched her as if they tried to determine the size of the baby and his position. She was five months pregnant. She then saw a needle; which would have been inserted just above her navel.

Her "next memory" was to be in the car and to observe the UFO go away. Four months later she gave rise to a normal girl.

It is said that in the same evening dark triangular objects with pale yellow lights were seen above the airport of Heathrow and in Ducklington, England.

[Ref. rh1:] RICHARD HALL:

The ufologist says that in November 1978, in Trier, West Germany, there was a case of vehicle encounter, confrontation, time loss, abduction, examination on table, humanoids, and possibly telepathy.

He indicates that Pam Owens, aged 19, pregnant wife of U.S. soldier Chris Owens, said that they were returning home with their infant son Brian from a friend's house on a trip that normally took 30 minutes, when suddenly a large oval object hovered above their car, intermittently flashing a red light.

They arrived home at 12:10 a.m., unable to account for about an hour and 40 minutes of time.

Later, under hypnosis, Pam Owens described getting out of the car as the UFO hovered overhead, and being examined on a table in a room with dim yellow light, by two beings about 2 or 2.5 meters tall.

They were hairless, with large heads, large and deepset eyes, and rough-looking greenish skin. One, with fingers twice as long as those of a normal human, took a needle about 8 cm long and inserted it just above her navel.

When she inquired about Brian, whom she had been carrying in her arms, they replied, "We are taking care of him." When she asked that her husband not be hurt, they replied that everything would be all right.

Their lips did not move when they spoke as if they used telepathy.

Pam's next memory recall after the needle was of standing by the car with Brian in her arms and watching the UFO go away.

C. R. McQuiston, co-inventor of the psychological stress evaluator, studied tape recordings of her story and said: "This is one of the strangest stories I have heard in my life, but it is evident that she is telling the truth."

Richard Hall says the sources are Argentine newspaper reports translated by Jane Thomas, Buenos Aires.

[Ref. js1:] JOHN SCHUESSLER:

John Schuessler indicates that on 1978/11/25, in Germany, in Trier, at 2200, Pam Owens was riding with her soldier husband and 20-month old son when they encountered a shiny metallic, oval shaped craft. It hovered over their car. After they had stopped their car, they were abducted by mummy-like beings. She was given an examination which included inserting a needle into her lower abdomen. She was five months pregnant at the time and later had a normal birth. They experienced 90 minutes of missing time.

John Schuessler indicates that the effects were an abduction , a medical examination, a time loss and a needle in abdomen, and that the sources are the National Enquirer, January 8, 1980; La Independiente, Argentina, January 22, 1980.

The authors indicate that in November 1978, near Trier, West Germany, about 10:15 p.m., driving home after visiting friends, Pam Owens, her husband and her son saw a rotating oval-shaped object with a red flashing light hover above the car. Arriving home an hour and twenty minutes late from what is usually a thirty-minute drive, Pam later underwent regressive hypnosis, and recalled being "lifted" by the UFO and examined by two aliens.

She said that when the object appeared, she got off the road and stopped on the side and that "The next thing I remember is lying on a table. ...paralyzed, without being able to move arms or legs, only the eyes, ...looking in fright at the two beings. ...They are bald. ...their cranium was enormous. ...they had enormous, very deep-set eyes."

Green skin covered their eight-foot-tall bodies. she said: "It seemed rough, like the wrapping of a mummy. They had four fingers on each hand. ...double as long as human fingers." As she wondered where son Brian was, a thin voice replied, "We are taking care of him." Asking about her husband, Chris, "the voice repeated that everything was all right. Then the two creatures appeared. One told me all would be fine but did not move his lips. They lifted my shirt and touched me as if trying to determine the size of the baby and its position. I was five months pregnant. I then saw the needle." It was inserted just above the navel.

She next recalls being in the car and watching the UFO leave. Four months later she gave birth to a normal girl.

The authors indicate that the source is El Independiente, January 22, 1980.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Trier, Germany, on November 25, 1978, at 2215, a family of three was driving home when they saw a rotating oval shaped object, with a red flashing light below, hovering above the car. They arrived home later than usual noticing a 20-minute missing time period. Later under hypnosis the wife recalled being lifted up into the object. She recalled lying on a table, paralyzed, only being able to move her eyes. There were two beings examining her, they were eight-foot tall with huge baldheads, huge deep-set eyes and greenish skin that seemed very rough in texture. The witness recalled the beings inserting a long needle just above the navel area. She was pregnant at the time. Her next memory was sitting in the car watching the object leave.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Robert E Bartholomew, UFO Lore."

Pam Owens abduction case. (MUFON investigation report)

[Ref. ni2:] "THE NICAP WEBSITE":

Nov. 25, 1978; Trier, Germany

10:00 PM. That night an abduction by UFO occupants occurred. A metallic, ovoid UFO with a flashing red light hovered over a car with a German couple and a nineteen-year-old American woman named Owens. The car's occupants experienced over 90 minutes of missing time. The principal abductee, the wife of an American soldier stationed in Germany, was levitated aboard the UFO. She was five months pregnant at the time. She had no memory of the abduction prior to hypnosis. During hypnosis she recalled that the aliens had huge, baldheads, and deep-set eyes. They had a greenish colored skin, with a roughness like mummy wrapping. Their hands had four fingers, and were twice the length of human fingers. Dark triangular objects with pale yellow lights were seen over Heathrow Airport and in Ducklington, England that day and evening. [Ref. uw1:] "UFO WHIPNET" WEBSITE:

UFO investigator Richard Siefried was told by Pam Owens that she was taken aboard a UFO on November 25, 1978, while she was expecting a child. She was nineteen at the time, and she had no memory of the abduction until she was hypnotically regressed. Then she was able to give full and fascinating details of her encounter.

Mrs. Owens told Siefried that she was paralyzed and able to move only her eyes. She lay helpless on a table and stared up in terror at two weird-looking creatures.

According to Mrs. Owens, their heads were hairless, oversize domes, their eyes were big and sunk back in their skulls. The greenish skin covering their bodies was coarse. Each hand had four fingers that she described as being twice as long as a human's. And to her terror, one of those strange hands was holding a long silver needle, preparing to plunge it into her stomach...

Points to consider:

"Richard Sifried", given as the name of a ufologist who studied the case, may be a mispell for the name "Sigfried.

If we consider only the conscious memories, all we have is a very poorly document UFO sighting and an apparent missing time without any sign it was investigation.

As for the close encounter with the beings, it rests entirely on the use of hypnosis, a technique whose value is doubted by most ufologists including many who used it.
