SEPTEMBER 1973, ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA, A PSYCHIC:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

In 1975, sensationalist writer John Keel reported in a rather vague manner in one of his most famous books that in September 1973, in Georgia, posters announcing the "imminent arrival of the inhabitants of space" suddenly covered the walls of the town of Atlanta.

As a continuation, or independently - the author does not specify - there is a paragraph about a "psychic", some unnamed lady, who in September 1973, held one or several gatherings where she claimed in front of the audience that she was in "psychic" communication with a certain "Zandark." The psychic introduced "Zendark" as a ""member of the United Cosmic Council; a Commander in Chief in Charge of Directing Technical Transmissions Via Mental Telepathy of the Combination of Mediumistic Telepathy under the Direction of the Confederation of Cosmic Space Beings."

The "message" by Zendrak according to the psychic seemed to ritually start with a greeting that said "Adonai Vassu", and it was told the audience who asked for a translation that it meant "peace be with you, and love to you for always", but according to John Keel it really means "servant of God" and it would, significantly to him, be the same thing as the "signed: Adionesis" used by Italian "contactee" Siragusa, and thus, Keel explains, Zendrak was rather an angel of god than a true extraterrestrial visitor.

After this hello ritual, "Zendrak" ensured humanity of his peaceful intentions, and vituperated the skeptics who dared taking the "contactees" crowd for crackpots or people seeking personal publicity, Zendrak estimating that this very unpleasant attitude was to cease.

Much more isn't known about Zendrak and his "message," except that he claimed that it was his people of the Confederation of the Cosmic Beings from Space who built the pyramids and the Sphinx in ancient Egypt, as well as a number of other monument that are wrongly believed to have been built by regular Earthmen.

"Zendrak" call to believe the "contactees" does not seem to have impressed the largest ufology crowd, John Keel somehow excepted, who thus estimated that UFOs are no alien spaceships, but "messages" that came from the centuries, and who ended up being all similar one from the other, not because people who make claims lack imagination, but rather because of a certain "psychic pollution" John Keel claims to pervade the modern era. He would however later put an addendum to his book in which he wonders if maybe all these stories were only pure madness, which maybe somehow made him too disconnected with realities.

Narratives:

[Ref. jk1:] JOHN KEEL:

The author indicates that in September 1973, the town of Atlanta in Georgia was covered with posters which announced the "imminent arrival" of the "inhabitants of space" and that a psychic in Georgia was in psychic communication with Zandark, who presented himself as a "member of the United Cosmic Council; a Commander in Chief in Charge of Directing Technical Transmissions Via Mental Telepathy of the Combination of Mediumistic Telepathy under the Direction of the Confederation of Cosmic Space Beings."

Keel indicates that "Zandark delivered" the usual speech "we come to bring peace" and claimed the construction of the pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt and other "structural phenomena", and also considered it regrettable that "contactees" are not taken seriously but are considered as "crackpots, fanatics" and individuals who seek personal publicity, and Zandark urged for a change.

Keel indicates that each "communication of Zandark" started with "Adonai Vassu", and that when the assistance of the gatherings asked for a translation, they were told that it meant "peace be with you, and love for always" but that it really means "servant of God."

John Keel finds this "interesting" since there was the Italian contactee Siragusa, who wrote "the light be with you, signed Adoniesis". Keel explains, "Adoniesis and Adonai, it is all the same" and concludes "this Zandark old man would be thus an Aggel in disguise!", and he continues by explaining that in obscure books of contactees testimonies that he studied, which could not have inspired modern "testimonies", there is indeed a message which is repeated over and over since generations, all speaking about an imminent disaster, "since the XIXth century already, prophets and and psychic report the same ineptitudes", which became a single message because of the "psychic pollution" of the modern era and because the "ultraterrestrial" intelligence "programs the fanatics" in the same way.

[Ref. bh1:] ROBERT E. BARTHOLOMEW AND GEORGE S. HOWARD:

The authors indicate that in September 1973, near Atlanta, Georgia, an unnamed Georgia woman claimed to begin receiving communications with Zandark, a "member of the United Cosmic Council; a Commander in Chief in Charge of Directing Technical Transmissions Via Mental Telepathy of the Combination of Mediumistic Telepathy under the Direction of the Confederation of Cosmic Space Beings."

Zandark said they "come to bring peace" and claim to have built structures such as the sphinx and the pyramids.

The authors indicate that the source is John A. Keel, The Mothman Prophecies, New York: Signet, 1975, page 137.

[Ref. jc1:] JEROME CLARK:

The author indicates that in the fall of 1973, an anonymous woman received psychic communications from Zandark, claimed to be "a member of the member of the United Cosmic Council; a Commander in Chief in Charge of Directing Technical Transmissions Via Mental Telepathy of the Combination of Mediumistic Telepathy under the Direction of the Confederation of Cosmic Space Beings."

Jerome Clark indicates that the source is John Keel in 1975 in The Mothman Prophecies, and that it was claimed that Zandark's people came to bring peace, and to have built the pyramids, the Sphinx and other classic ancient structures.

[Ref. dp1:] DAVID PRATT:

The author indicates that UFO entities have claimed to have some interesting names, for example Affa, A-lan, Ashtar, Ausso, Kronin, Orthon, Quazgaa, Semjase, Xeno, Zandark.

Points to consider:

In all the countries of the world, innumerable "psychics" organize public sessions to tell all sorts of stuff to gullible audiences. Sociologically, this is certainly very interesting; but to believe that such claims have any truth or to propose alternate realities or change mankind's history or explain UFOs on the basis of such, in my opinion, is not to show intellectual genius, but on the contrary, to join the crowds of the gullible and charlatans who take advantage of the UFO question to get a supplement of attention.

Here, the case is even more pathetic since there it not even possible to know whether even existed, or, if so, what kind of people went to her sessions, what they thought of it etc.

Adonai is used several hundreds of times in the Bible, it is a Hebrew word translated by "Lord" as in "praise the Lord!" Adoniesis has nothing to do with Adonai; Siragusa claimed that Adoniesis was the name of a Martian scientist, he probably embroidered around Adonis more than Adonai. The word Vassu means nothing in Latin. A slave or one being useful was sometimes called a vassus, which is the controversed origin for vassal, but vassu is no decination of vassus. In the certain late Hebrew textx, vassu would mean "an abundance of". Actually, since 1966, many "contactees" talked about a certain Venusian that they called "Adonai Vassu Baragus" or "Adonai Vassu Berogus", a name often found in the crowds of channelers and psychics who confabulated aourn the "Ashtar Command" myth started by George Van Tassel in the 50's, which had become and still remains well known "new age" and "channellers" inspiration. Thus, all that "Adoinai Vassu" proves is that the lady who claimed to be in contact with "Zandark" had read books or text by the follower of Van Tassel's "Ashtar command" lore.
