Summary:

The regional newspaper Paris-Normandie for October 2-3, 1954, reported that in Petit-Couronne, Mr. Daniel Billard, lieutenant of the port, had seen "a few days ago", a huge disc moving sideways in the sky.

He was returning home at 7:00 p.m. and was waiting for the Caen bus on National road 138, with another person near him, the preparer of the Duval pharmacy in Petit-Couronne.

Both observed for about 15 minutes "the moves of this saucer, which was about a thousand meters high and in the direction of the Northwest, then suddenly the craft disappeared."

The newspaper reported that Mr. Billard, who until now did not believe in the existence of such craft, is now convinced. Afraid of being ridiculed by his friends, he shared this only to a few intimates, who hastened to publicize it..."

The observation seems to have remained unknown to the UFO literature.
