Aimé Michel notes that an observation occured on October 9, 1954, in Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes. He indicates the newspaper Le Figaro of October 11 as source.

[Ref. fr1:] MICHEL FIGUET AND JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:

The two authors and ufologists indicate that in Nice in the Alpes-Maritime department on October 9, 1954, during the night, Mr. Soulié, EDF [national power co] employee, observed a disc resembling the full moon and leaving a luminous trail.

The authors indicate that the source is "La Montagne" in October 1954.

The Belgian ufologist indicates in her catalogue that in 1954, on October 9 in France in St Chamas and Nice, "at 20:15 one observes in St Chamas a disc letting out a very thick smoke of fire color, which disappears suddenly by taking altitude above Nice. At 23:15 Mr. Valicale observes in Nice a luminous craft moving at high speed towards the south. Mr. Soulié observes a disc resembling the full moon and leaving a luminous trail."

The source is indicated as "M. FIGUET/ J.L. RUCHON: "Ovni, Premier dossier complet..." Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979, p. 140".

Luc Chastan indicates in his database that in the Alpes Maritime in Nice on October 9, 1954, at an unknown hour, "during the night a witness observes a disc resembling the full moon and producing a luminous trail."

The source is indicated as "Ovni, Premier dossier complet... by Figuet M./ Ruchon J.L. ** Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979".

The website indicates that on 9 October 1954 at 23:00 in Nice, France, "An unidentified object was sighted, but with appearance and behavior that most likely would have a conventional explanation. One object was observed."
