November 5, 1954, Fourmies, Nord:

Reference number for this case: 5-Nov-54-Fourmies. Thank you for including this reference number in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

The local newspaper Le Courier de la Région de Fourmies reported on page 1 for November 20, 1954, that Mr. François Pamart, Municipal Councilor, was returning to his home in Fourmies around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 1954, when, rue du Maire Coppeaux, he saw "a craft" in the sky, very clear that night.

He was certain that it was not the Moon since he also saw it in the sky.

Shooting observer in the army, Mr. Pamart had estimated the duration of the observation as five to six seconds, the round-shaped craft as having 8 to 10 meters in diameter, located at 800 or 1000 meters of hight, coming from the east and heading towards Féron - Avesnes at an approximate speed of one kilometer per second, ie 3,600 kph.

It is said that the "this saucer had the shape of two plates placed one on the other edge to edge of silver hue. Around, a luminous and yellow halo left a trail of darker hue verging on the orange hue."

A few other people also saw the object.

The newspaper explained that Mr. Pamart "is a quiet man, with scrupulous honesty, exemplary calm and a very well-known seriousness. These statements, which may seem strange, cannot be questioned, however."

Mr. François Pamart, City Councilor, returned to his home around 10:00 p.m. Friday the 5th of this month, when, on rue du Maire Coppeaux, he saw a craft in the sky very clear this night.

No confusion with the moon, since it was clearly visible almost on its full surface.

Shooting observer in the army, Mr. Pamart was able to technically detect the lengths, speeds and volume of this craft. For five to six seconds he saw a craft of round shape, 8 to 10 meters in diameter at 8.800 or a thousand meters of height coming from the east and heading towards Féron - Avesnes at an approximate speed of one kilometer per second which corresponds to 3,600 km per hour.

This saucer had the shape of two plates placed one onto the other edge to edge of silver hue. Around, a luminous and yellow halo left a trail of darker shade verging on the orange hue.

A few other people also saw the object.

Mr. Pamart is a quiet man, with scrupulous honesty, exemplary calm and a very well-known seriousness. These statements, which may seem strange, cannot be questioned, however.

Explanations:

Probable meteor.
