Summary:

According to the press of the time, quite intriguing sightings took place in Scaër, in the Finistère department, on Saturday, October 2, 1954.

A first regional newspaper, La Liberté du Morbihan for October 4, 1954, reported:

Two residents of Scaër (Finistère) stated to have seen two mysterious machines in the sky Saturday evening.

One of them, a pink-red disc was followed of a white disc, three times larger than the first. One hour later, saucers making a noise similar to that of a truck were observed by several people. The same noise was to be repeated during the night and was to be heard by several other people.

The next day, the regional newspaper Ouest-France reported:

Scaër. -- (From our correspondent). Last Saturday, two people worthy of faith, MISTERS QUEMERLE of GUEROUE and BOULIC of TOYAL stated to have seen at about 08:30 P.M. a luminous machine in the sky, or rather two, the first a pink-red disc of a size 20 cm in diameter, followed by a bright white disc, of an immaculate whiteness, presenting the triple of the size of the first saucer, coming from the direction of the station; they evolved without any noise and slowly to the farms of KERFLOURY.

At 09:30 P.M., second edition: this time it was not silent flying saucers, but the noise of a truck scrap merchant which surprized several people and Mr. GUILLOU, mechanic, saw a very white disc disappearing in the direction of LORIENT.

During the night, many people were puzzled by engine noises, which, according to the statements of Mr. Jean BIHAN, mechanic in the borough, appeared abnormal and seemed to come from the descent and the ascent of the machines.

Explanations:

Map.

The case may be of high strangeness, or maybe it was just the headlight and position light of a helicopter; noise is reported.

But the information from the press is not sufficient, and there has been no investigation, which leaves things uncertain for me.
