September 28, 1954, Avignon, Vaucluse:

Reference number for this case: 28-Sep-54-Avignon. Thank you for including this reference number in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

In the 1970s, the ufology group GREPO, of the Vaucluse department, noted in a catalog of observations in that department, that according to their research in the archive of the newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré in Avignon, on Tuesday, September 28, 1954, at 9:45, two cigar-shaped objects passed over Avignon.

GREPO noted that the case is too imprecise and too old for them to undertake a serious investigation, but that it is still unidentified flying objects "that cannot be related in any manner to our technology, planes or balloons" or artificial satellites.

COMMENTS

These two cases are known to us from the researches we carried out among the archives of Dauphine Libéré (Ref 6), in Avignon. They are too imprecise and too old for us to undertake a serious investigation. But they do mention unidentified flying object that cannot be related in any way to our technology, airplanes or balloons. And, remember that, the first artificial satellite Sputnik I, was launched only on October 5, 1957.

"Référence 6" refers to "Le Dauphiné Libéré".

Explanations:

Totally insufficient information, possible planes.
