October 14, 1954, Vaison-la-Romaine, Vaucluse:

Reference number for this case: 14-Oct-54-Vaison-la-Romaine. Thank you for including this reference number in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

A catalog of the Vaucluse sightings of October 14, 1954, compiled by René Faudrin, in the ufology bulletin Vaucluse Ufologie, of the GREPO ufology group, #3 for May - June 1977, indicated that at 1 p.m., in Vaison-la-Romaine, several people had seen two planes moving around a cigar-shaped object, shining like silver, the whole going towards Bollène.

In a new catalog of the same bulletin in 1981, we learn that the source would be the regional newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré.

Reports:

[Ref. vau1:] "VAUCLUSE UFOLOGIE" UFOLOGY BULLETIN:

Thursday, October 14, 1954

1 p.m. - Vaison la Romaine.

At 1 p.m., several people saw two planes moving around a cigar-shaped object shining like silver. The whole was going fast in the direction of Bollene.

Is it the same object observed above Fontaine de Vaucluse pursued by a patrol of the air base of Orange-Caritat that same day?

(this case will be the subject of a future issue of our newsletter).

13° - 10/14/54 - 01:00 p.m. - Vaison. 1 brilliant cigar-shaped object.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 14, 1954 - 12:00 [noon]

VAISON LA ROMAINE

Reference 6

At 01:00 p.m., several people saw two planes moving around an object shiny like silver. Cigar shaped. The whole thing was heading towards Bollène.

Is it the same object observed on Fontaine de Vaucluse and followed by a patrol of the Orange-Caritat air base? At 01:30 p.m. The only items that we have came from our search in the archive of Dauphiné Libéré. An error might have slipped in the indication of the hour of passage above Vaison.

"Refernce 6" refers to "Le Dauphiné Libéré".

Explanations:

Probably, like in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and other nerby places, a balloon.
