Jacques Vallée indicates that on August 11, 1954, there were already four sightings including one in Remiremont.

The website indicates that on 11 August 1954 at 03:00 in Remiremont, France, "Compass deflection case. Compasses spin, all types of electromagnetic effects in three separate towns."

And: "At three o'clock in the morning a compass started spinning wildly and other types of EM effects occurred in Remiremont, France and two other towns when at least one UFO briefly flew over."

And: "Objects were observed. Electromagnetic effects were noted. More than one object was observed by numerous witnesses in a pasture briefly."

Explanations:

Not looked for yet.

As opposed to what is claimed in [dj1], Vallée does not indicate any source.

The story of the spinning compass is obviously another case.

It is possible that Vallée gave a false date and that it is the case of August 8, 1954 in Remiremont, probably a meteor.
