Help page for the UFOs video section:

Windows Media, Real, Stearming, MPEG, Quicktime... are you lost? this page will help you to understand how to get a grip on my UFO videos collection.

SAVE THE VIDEOS:

The first thing you should know is that the Internet is SLOW, especialy the connection to my UFOs videos files...

Forget about seeing these video on line by clicking on their thumbnail image: on the contrary, use the RIGHT mous button, and use your browser's capability to download the video file on your own PC.

With Microsoft Internet Explorer (4, 5.0, 5.5 ...) this right-click function is "Save target as...". Do not confuse it with "Save picture".

With Netscape, this right-click function is "Copy location". Remember, the right button, not the left button.

TO WATCH THE VIDEOS:

Once you have downloaded one or several video files to your own computer, you can even dsconnect from the Internet and double click the files to open them. If you have a software capable to open them, of course. If you double click on a video file and if it is not played, then the correct software is probably not installed on your computer.

Here is what you need. There are several different software, because some video format are copyrighted by different companies in competition. But these video players are all available for free (though more powerful are generally proposed at a reasonable price):

Software: To read these video formats: Comments:
AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMF, WAV, MP3... The latest version of Microsoft's Media Player is a very powerful and efficien software, totally free, for the PC running Windows and the MACinstosh. You will find all the information and help, and additional tools on Microsoft's web site.

QTW The pioneer video software made popular on the MACintosh platform by Apple, there is of course also a Windows PC version. A professional version can be bought, and a lighter version is available for free download.

RAM, RM, RA The still very popular Real Player, for "Streaming" videos. Note that the free version's download option is quite discrete on the editor's page, as many other software are proposed, demanding payment. Have a complete look at the "preferences" once installed, you may want to inactivate some slightly indiscrete "Send us PC performance reports" options, and the numerous "pushed" informations and advertising.

These video players are all functionning very correctly, if your PC is in good shape and if your operating system is properly installed and configured. They all have an integrated or online help system.
