The truth is out there

This UFO was seen over Bridport in Dorset.

The search for intelligent life in outer space has increased over recent years, not least because the prospect of finding it on earth is diminishing.

This week's Southern Ways on BBC1 weekdays 6.30pm has sent presenter Mike Powell out with UFO hunters to see for himself if there is any evidence of extra terrestrial activity.

As a weather presenter, Mike knows how the weather can play all sorts of funny tricks. Odd cloud shapes, the hint of the Northern Lights in the sky, and even ball lightning can lead people to believe that UFO's are whizzing about.

An ex-RAF intelligence officer, David Kingston, interviewed many pilots worldwide who believe they have met beings from "other worlds."

The amateur film footage David Kingston has made available to us are both instances of objects flying over Dorset, in Verwood and over Bridport.

He takes Mike to the site of a recent sighting in the Dorset countryside and we examine film footage of the experience which has been accredited by scientists as "genuine."

Another pilot recalls close contact from the age of five and tells of "missing time" in the New Forest he just can't explain.

A college lecturer from Southampton, Craig Roberts, is an expert in UFOs and during Southern Ways goes into hypnosis to unveil a probing by creatures who experimented on his flesh and eyes.

His students have won awards for their investigations and give up their spare time to search the skies.

We also join a UFO group as they search the heavens above the Devil's Punchbowl in Surrey. Could they be about to reveal something truly diabolical?

Perhaps the most fascinating event is what happened over Havant.

On Friday March 22, 2002 a fleet of UFOs was seen over Bedhampton, Havant. It was witnessed and videotaped by Anthony Woods, a local resident who has been documenting on video the unusual activity of the unknown flying objects.

Anthony Woods says the activity was so intense it seems to have attracted the interest of the military helicopters whose presence over the area seems to have been increased.

Anthony was in the company of his wife Samantha and both of them were amazed of the large number of white luminous spheres that, in perfect formation, seemed to be performing sophisticated manoeuvres in an amazing display of technology.

Anthony Woods says this was the 'Commanding Leader' of the fleet.

He said: "I have filmed some stunning footage today! I first noticed a fleet of spheres above my home around midday; there were hundreds of them! Me, my wife and daughter watched them; I taped over 30 minutes of footage.

"They were locked together in strange formations, some moving as others hovered, some were touching each other. There were at least 100 objects, probably more. I have never seen so many together before."

After the initial fleet had departed, there were many single and group objects that appeared. I taped these for about 40 minutes.

At 1.55pm the "Commanding Leader" appeared in the scenario in a spectacular display of maneuvering performance.

This craft was a huge, dark red glowing, kind of dual big sphere structured object definitely at very low altitude with a rotating sequence.
