A farmer from the Corrèze also saw a "Martian"

whom he at first took for a simpleton

Tulle, 18. -- This time, it is no longer about a flying saucer, but a strange being seemingly from another world.

The encounter reported by Mr. Mazaud, a sturdy fifty-something farmer from Bugeat (Corrèze), is of a completely different kind. He is extremely firm in his account. There is an undeniable tone of sincerity in his statements. He is by no means known as a prankster or fantasist, and investigators found not the slightest gap or contradiction in his account.

The man he met on a deserted plateau on September 10, around 8:30 p.m., did not appear abnormal in dress or appearance, except for the rather peculiar shape of the helmet he wore on his head.

When he found himself face to face with the Corrèze farmer, the man bowed several times in greeting, extended his hand, then embraced him. He did not respond otherwise to Mr. Mazaud's "good evening" and did not utter a single word, to the point that the farmer took him for a simpleton and would likely have soon forgotten the encounter.

A flying craft that vaguely resembled a cigar

But, a few seconds after the stranger disappeared, Mr. Mazaud, who continued on his way, heard a faint rustling. He turned around, and at that moment he saw a craft lifting off the ground at an angle, in the same way a plane takes off. The machine vaguely had the shape of a cigar (somewhat like a jet seen in profile). It flew westward very quickly, gaining altitude. The sound was very faint. There was no smoke, nor the slightest glow.

Mr. Mazaud refrained from speaking about the phenomenon to anyone in the area, fearing he would be mocked. Only his wife's indiscretion allowed the gendarmes to be informed.

They questioned him at his home and went to the site, but two days had passed and it had rained a lot. No trace was found on the ground.

The commissioner of general intelligence in Tulle also interviewed Mr. Mazaud at length and went with the farmer to the site of the encounter. Like everyone else, he was struck by the seriousness of the man who had been the involuntary witness of this strange phenomenon.

We report this information without altering it. One can be serious and still have visions.
