"The pilot of a flying cigar kissed and adorned me"

CLAIMS A FARMER FROM THE MILLEVACHES PLATEAU

LIMOGES, September 14 (report from "France-Soir"). A farmer in the hamlet of Mouriéras, in the commune of Bugeat (Corrèze), on the Millevaches plateau, Mr. Antoine Mazaud had an extraordinary encounter on September 10, which would never have come to light without the indiscretion of his wife, who gave the following account of the adventure her husband experienced.

That evening, Mr. Antoine Mazaud was returning from working in the fields. It was 8:30 p.m. and night was beginning to fall over the countryside. The farmer was walking along a sunken lane, the thick hedges lining it making the dusk even darker.

Suddenly, he came face to face with a stranger of medium height wearing a motorcycle helmet without earflaps.

Both were very surprised. As the stranger made a defensive gesture, Mr. Mazaud raised the pitchfork he had on his shoulder. The man quickly advanced toward him, hand outstretched, apparently to show he meant no harm.

Fearing he was not being understood, the stranger approached the farmer, and while speaking incomprehensible words, kissed him. Then, before Mr. Mazaud could recover from his astonishment, the man climbed over the embankment and entered a strange craft, shaped like a cigar and three or four meters long. The craft, which was not lit, took off vertically, making no more noise than a buzzing bee, and disappeared in a westerly direction.

Under the seal of secrecy

When Mr. Mazaud returned to the farm, 1,500 meters away, his wife noticed his pale complexion and strange demeanor. He then told her about the bizarre encounter, but insisted she not tell anyone:

- "People will laugh at us," he said.

But the temptation was too strong. Mrs. Mazaud couldn't resist sharing the story with her neighbor - under the seal of secrecy, of course. The neighbor told the traveling merchant, who spread the tale during his rounds, and that's how... the entire region found out. The gendarmes, last to hear of it, were only informed yesterday.

Mr. Mazaud, questioned by the gendarmerie lieutenant from Ussel, repeated to him what he had told his wife. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find any traces at the location where the craft supposedly landed.

Mr. Mazaud, who enjoys an excellent reputation, is not prone to hallucinations.
