STRANGE OBJECT IN SKY OVER WEST CORK

While returning from night class at Castletownbere Vocational School about 10 o'clock on Wednesday night, Mr. Jerome McCarthy, Clash, Eyeries, saw a dazzling object in the sky about a half-mile from his home. Shaped like a half moon, it was about three feet long and a groaning sound was coming from it. Other residents in the area also heard this sound.

The object was travelling in a westerly direction, and when it was over Cahirkeem, In Urhan, about four miles away it broke in two and disappeared.

Two Urhan men, Messrs. Mick Lynch, and Donald C. O'Sullivan, saw another object in the sky moving along the horizon by the Knockura TV Station one night last week. It had circular moving lights underneath and was making a strong grating noise which died out suddenly at times. After a few minutes it disappeared.
