JULY 4, 1989, KIEV, UKRAINE, VERA PROKOFIEVNA, ALEXANDRA STEPANONA:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

A Russian magazine reported about a month after the alleged encounter that in Kiev, Ukraine, on July 4, 1989, in the afternoon, two women, one named Vera Ignatenko and a young girl, or Vera Prokofievna, Alexsandra Stepanona and a young girl, were walking along a canal near some woods when they saw three men approaching on a strange silvery "boat" in the canal.

These beings were human or human-like, in shiny or silvery collarless suits, had identical pale faces, long golden hair, and large radiant eyes.

They approached the trio, one of them went in front of the women and the other two went to their side, and spoke in pure ancient Slavic language, a defunct language spoken in old Russia, or in Russian with a strange accent according to another version. They apparently wanting the witnesses to come with them to their "planet."

The beings claimed that they took one person from earth each day. They then walked with the women to a nearby hovering silvery barrel-shaped craft with an antenna on top. The women attempted to run away but could not, feeling a tingling sensation and also unable to scream. The beings apparently decided against taking the three women and released them, they then entered the object via a stepladder.

Before leaving, the beings demonstrated a holographic model of the solar system with a tenth planet to the witnesses and warned that electromagnetic emissions from and radio signals being transmitted into space attracted many negative alien cultures who are arriving on Earth uninvited with the aim to exploit the planet for their own interests.

The craft then left quickly and silently. It is mentioned that one of the woman had further contacts.

Narratives:

[Ref. tg1:] TIMOTHY GOOD:

The author indicates that on July 4, 1989, in Kiev, USSR, at twilight, Vera Prokofievna, Alexsandra Stepanona, and a young girl, claimed to have had an encounter with three "aliens" in a strange "boat" on a canal.

The beings wore silvery, collarless suits, and their faces were identical and pale, with long, golden hair and large, radiant eyes.

The witnesses asked the being "Are you tourists? Where are you from?", and the beings replied in Russian but with a strange accent that "We have flown from another planet. The whereabouts of this planet is beyond human understanding. If you come with us you will understand. Every day we take one person from Earth. We will show our ship to you."

At this point the "aliens" came out of their "boat", one of them went in front of the women and the other two went to their side.

The witnesses tried to run away but felt tingling sensations and were unable to move or shout. They explained to the aliens that did not want togo with them as they had families to look after.

The witnesses saw a "spaceship" through some trees that resembled a giant silvery-white barrel with a round aerial at the top.

The aliens said "Well, we will not take you with us, we will find others," then entered the craft by means of a step-ladder, and took off quickly and silently.

Local UFO researcher, A. F. Pugach stated that in his opinion all the witnesses were truthful.

In addition, the Iskuskovi Family in Podgorczi, near Kiev, claimed to have seen a large, round flying object, together with people in silvery suits, which landed at 10:40 p.m..

The author indicates that the story is adapted from Nikolai Lebedev's translation of an article that appeared in Nedelya, #33, pp 14-20, on August 1989.

The beings claimed that they took one person from earth each day. The beings then walked with the women to a nearby hovering silvery barrel-shaped craft with an antenna on top. The women attempted to run away but could not, feeling a tingling sensation and were unable to scream either. The craft then left quickly and silently. Ignatenko was to have further contacts.

Rosales indicates that the source is Timothy Good, UFO Report 1991.

Points to consider:

The story as it currently appears has all the trademarks of the typical "contactee" tale, with no elements of credibility, this the most likely explanation is that it was all invented, it could actually have been invented by some imaginative sensation magazine.
