NOVEMBER 9, 1978, RISDON VALE, TASMANIA AUSTRALIA, MR. WRIGHT:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Australian ufologist Keith Basterfield indicates in 2005 that the ufology group TUFOIC noted that on November 9, 1978, in Risdon Vale, Tasmania, Australia, at 03:15, one Mr. Wright, a 24-year-old taxi driver travelling along at 30-40Km/hr saw a green shape come from the scrubs of the road edges and stop in the center of the road.

The driver braked, there was a high-pitched squeal, static on the two way radio and then the shape disappeared.

The incident was reported to the police but upon inspecting the spot nothing unusual was found.

In another version, Basterfield adds that the shape was 1.5 meters high, appeared solid, and floated 3 meters above the ground.

Other short versions say it was on Sugarloaf road, the green triangular shape was 1.5 meters tall and 0.75 meters at the base, the top was pointed, and when it disappeared the driver had stopped at 5 meters of it.

The ufologist indicates that on 9 Nov 1978 in Risdon Vale, Tasmania, at 0315 hours, a 24-year-old man was driving a taxi when he saw a luminous, light green "triangle" move out from scrub at the side of the road. The shape was one and a half metres tall, appeared solid and was floating some point three metres off the ground. He braked the car violently, and heard a high pitched squeal and the "figure" vanished. The noise was so loud it made his ears ring. At the same time there came a considerable amount of static on his car radio.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Risdon Vale, Tasmania Australia, on November 9, 1978, at 0315 a.m., during a spate of encounters in the area, including a car pace, a taxi driver spotted a bizarre humanoid shape crossing Sugarloaf Road in front of him. The shape was described as green in color about one and a half meters tall and 3/4 meters wide at the base, it tapered to a narrow top. The shape drifted out into the road and at the same time the taxi radio emitted a high-pitched squeal as the driver broke hard stopping only 5 meters from the shape. The figure then just vanished into thin air.

Points to consider:

In addition to the points listed in the List of Issues, one might wonder why the green cone shaped was considered to be a UFO occupant and not a UFO.
