APRIL 25, 1978, VILLAMMARE DI SAPRI, SALERNO, ITALIA, CONSTANTINA IMBIBO:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Italien ufologist Maurizio Verga reported that the following events took place in Villammare di Sapri, Salerno, Italy, all witnessed by Mrs Imbibo, a 26-year-old married woman:

On March 20, 1978 at 05:15 p.m. - 05:30 p.m., Mrs Constantina Imbibo, 26 years, sees a kind of "swirl" make the trees move on other side of the railway, and immediately after, a conical white object with horizontal bands oranges appear at a few centimetres of the ground. It swung, moves a few meters then moves back without swinging, then disappears behind the trees, then also seen by the lady's husband.

About March 27, 1978 the light dies out inside Mrs. Imbibo's house, and re-ignites a few minutes later. She has an intuition, runs to the garden and sees close to the railway a strange luminous object, 10 centimetres long, in the shape of half-moon with the points at the top, emitting a very intense white gleam which seemed "to pulse". Under the "half-moon" was a kind of large "eye" which made think of a kind of "eyelid" opening and closing itself alternatively. This phenomenon disappeared a few moment later as if sucked towards the ground, leaving a kind of fog which dissipated in a few seconds.

On April 25, 1978, Mrs. Imbibo sees an enormous orange sphere "as large as the trees" which then becomes increasingly small. She tries to take a photograph but does not succeed. When the sphere reached a diameter of approximately 1.50 meters, a humanoid resembling a "gnome" came out of there, wearing an orange outfit with dark orange boots. He was arched, his face appeared "completely human", his cranium comprised a "conical structure", his lower lips were very thin. He looked all around making slight head moves, he jumped to move. During this time the sphere had become increasingly small until it disappeared. When the being was within 50 meters from the witness, she called her husband, then the being squatted behind a truck, "disappearing in a slight fog which persisted a few seconds".

On June 9, 1978 at midnight, Mrs. Imbibo sees three opaque objects close to the ground next to the railway; which had "a very strange shape". She was frightened, closed the window and thought "If you hear me, disappear". When she looked again "the objects (or the object)" had disappeared. The next day, she, her husband, and other people, noticed that at the place where "the 3rd UFO" had been observed, grass was completely yellowed and "had the shape of the 3 objects".

At another date of June 1978, Mrs. Imbibo sees about 15 discs fly in the sky, "which landed and took off from a nearby hill". When the objects landed they disappeared by leaving a fog which dissipated shortly.

It is noted that "Mrs. Imbibo witnessed other UFO phenomena" including "various observations of strange spheres", 10 centimeters in diameter and of luminous blue color, and that at the time of one of the observation one of these sphere touched "a branch of olive-tree which immediately dried".

The source of these reports is said to be an investigation by Mr. Tellarico of "Il Mattino Illustrato" for January 27, 1979.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Villamare Di Sapri, Italy, on April 25, 1978, at 1430, the witness was in her kitchen when she noticed a large luminous sphere; clear in color descend to the ground nearby. The witness went to fetch a camera with the intention of taking several photographs. At this point the sphere seemed to shrink in size and a short being wearing a bright orange overall type suit stepped out. The being walked around looking in all directions. Its face appeared brighter than the rest of the body and it had human like features. On its head he wore a cone shaped device or cap. It moved in short steps and bounds. This apparently frightened the witness who yelled for her husband. At this point the being glanced at the witness and ran behind a nearby tree stump. A thick fog then began forming in the area and at the same time the luminous sphere shrank in size and dissolved into nothing. The being apparently disappeared also.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Maurizio Verga "Itacat"."

The being walked around looking in all directions. Its face appeared brighter than the rest of the body and it had human like features. On its head it wore a cone-shaped device or cap. It moved in short steps and bounds. This apparently frightened the witness who yelled for her husband. The being glanced at the witness and then ran behind a nearby tree stump. A thick fog then began forming in the area and simultaneously the luminous sphere shrank in size and dissolved into nothing. The being apparently disappeared also. The website indicates that on April 25, 1978 14:30, in Villamare Di Sapri, Italy, there was a close encounter with a an unidentified craft and its occupants. One object was observed by one witness named Imbimbo in a yard for two minutes.

The witness was in her kitchen when she noticed a large luminous sphere; clear in color descend to the ground nearby. The witness went to fetch a camera with the intention of taking several photographs. VILLAMMARE DI SAPRI (Salerno)

Yellowed grass in the shape of three "objects" seen by the witness. Each individual trace was approximately sixty centimeters long.

(Il Mattino Illustrato 27/1/1979; Notiziario UFO Feb. 1980, 22; report G.Russolillo; reoprt U.Telarico)

COMMENT - the traces were practically seen by the witness and few other people. Probably they have an explanation in conventional terms. The case, in any event, belongs to a vast complex of experiences, probably of psychological origin, which had the witness of this event as protagonist.

Points to consider:

"Il Mattino Illustrato" was a weekly magazine based in Naples, the first in the world to publish quadrichromy illustrations.

The source "Lumières Dans La Nuit" N.207 is not of July 1981 but of August-September 1981.

The report seems to suggest a problem with the landing trace: at the site where one object landed, a trace matching the three objects is reported; this does not ring very reliable.

The report seems to indicate that the smallest distance between the entiy and the witness was 50 meters, a distance at which seeing that the lips are very thin is questionable.
