JULY 12, 1977, QUEBRADILLAS, ARECIBO, PUERTO RICO, ADRIAN DE OLMOS ORDONES, HIS DAUGHTER IRASEMA, NEIGHBORS:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

In Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, on July 12, 1977, at 08:30 p.m. Adrian De Olmos Ordones, 42, was resting on the balcony of his house when he saw a very small figure, 40 feet away across the street, slipping under the barbed wire fence of a neighboring farm and walk toward a street lamp post 20 feet away.

He first thought that it could be "a child apparently", but was intrigued, focused his attention and realized that it was not a normal child. The being was covered green garment that seemed to be inflated with air, and had a large metallic helmet with a glass front encased the head and came to slight point on top, surmounted by a short extension with a luminous point on top. On his back was a box like a knapsack. De Olmos also observed that the being had only four fingers, that his feet were similar to a duck's and that he had a tail, not long enough to reach the ground. In his right hand he had a small shiny object.

De Olmos shouted at his daughter Irasema to bring a pencil and paper so that he could draw the being without looking away. He later stated to the investigator Sebastian Robiou Lamarche:

"I told my daughter to turn on the light in the living room, but she was mistaken and lit the outside lamp, the one that lights the terrace. As soon as it was lit, I saw the creature retreat towards the barbed wire fence. It slipped below and it stayed motionless. It put its hands on the front of its belt and something which it had in the back, like a rucksack, was lit while making a noise which resembled that of an electric drilling machine. Then the thing rose in the air and disappeared beyond the trees."

At this time, the daughter, the wife and the two sons of De Olmos came outside, just in time to see the lights of the object flying in the air. They thus observed it during ten minutes going from trees to trees and sometimes to go down at ground level. Meanwhile, a group of neighbors had joined them and also followed this display. During this period the cattle on the adjacent farm "went crazy," running about and lowing.

A second group of lights, which was speculated to be a second humanoid, joined the first. De Olmos thought that it came to help his companion whose "backpack device did not function satisfactorily."

The lights soon disappeared, leaving in the night the small group of frightened witnesses who hurried to call the police forces.

The police made a full investigation, as did Sebastian Robiou Lamarche thereafter. In the account he published for the British Flying Saucer Review, Lamarche wrote:

"During our investigation, we managed to make sure that Mr Adrian was a serious man, estimated, and an honest worker. He enjoys the consideration of all his neighbors. He is a businessman who sells food for the cattle in the North-West of the island. He had never expressed before the least interest for UFOs or this sort of matters. He however told us: 'Now, I believe in it.'"

The next day, tracks presumably left by the humanoid were found and photographed at the site, and it was noted that a neighbor woman had seen a luminous object descend into the wooded area two days previously.

Narratives:

[Ref. cb1:] CHARLES BERLITZ:

The author indicates that by a beautiful evening of July 1977, Adrian de Olmos Ordonez, in his forties, rested on his balcony when he saw something slipping under the barbed wire fence of neighboring farm. He could see in the twilight that it was a being of small size, "a child apparently."

He was intrigued and focused his attention and realized that it was not a normal child. The being carried a kind of green bulb and a metal helmet surmounted of an antenna, at the end of which there was a light or a flame.

De Olmos shouted at his daughter Irasema to bring a pencil and paper so that he could draw the form without looking away. He later stated to the investigator Robiou Lamarche:

"I told my daughter to turn on the light in the living room, but she was mistaken and lit the outside lamp, the one that lights the terrace. As soon as it was lit, I saw the creature retreat towards the barbed wire fence. It slipped below and it stayed motionless. It put its hands on the front of its belt and something which it had in the back, like a rucksack, was lit while making a noise which resembled that of an electric drilling machine. Then the thing rose in the air and disappeared beyond the trees."

At this time, the daughter, the wife and the two sons of Olmos came outside, just in time to see the lights of the object flying in the air. They thus observed it during ten minutes going from trees to trees and sometimes to go down at ground level. Meanwhile, a group of neighbors had joined them and also followed this display.

A second group of lights, of which it was guessed that they were a second humanoid, joined the first. De Olmos thought that it came to help his companion whose "backpack device did not function satisfactorily."

The lights soon disappeared, leaving in the night the small group of frightened witnesses who hurried to call the police forces.

The police made a full investigation, as did Robiou Lamarche thereafter. In the account of the events which he issued for a British review devoted to the flying saucers [Flying Saucer Review], Lamarche wrote:

"During our investigation, we managed to make sure that Mr Adrian was a serious man, estimated, and an honest worker. He enjoys the consideration of all his neighbors. He is a businessman who sells food for the cattle in the North-West of the island. He had never expressed before the least interest for UFOs or this sort of matters. He however told us: 'Now, I believe in it.'"

[Ref. jb1:] JANET AND COLIN BORD:

The two foklorists indicate that on July 12, 1977, in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, a small helmeted entity dressed in green, having a tail and carrying a box at the back provided with red and blue lights was seen. The box lifted and the entity flew away, the witnesses observing the lights of the box above some trees where they were joined by other identical lights, as if another entity had awaited it.

[Ref. bb1:] ROGER BOAR AND NIGEL BLUNDEL:

The authors indicate that a father and his daughter were on their premises when they saw a small entity which passed under the wire fence and approached the house. The father initially thought that it was a child and asked his daughter to turn on the outside lights. The entity then went away.

It measured approximately 1.10 meters, was entirely dressed in green including the feet, had a helmet with a transparent part in front of the face. An antenna was fixed on the helmet, and the entity carried a backpack fixed at its belt. It had a tail.

It passed again under the fence, pressing something on its belt, and flew away in the manner of Superman, towards some twinkling lights further away.

[Ref. rh1:] RICHARD HALL:

Richard Hall lists that on July 12, 1977, A. Ordonez, in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, at 08:30 p.m. witnessed one 3.5 feet tall being, in green garb, with helmet, backpack, four fingers on hands, seen from balcony, with no craft seen; this being fled when lights were turned on, floating upward.

[Ref. jt1:] JOSEPH TRAINOR:

Joseph Trainor lists that in 1977, a small alien wearing a green uniform and a helmet with blinking red and white lights on it is seen by several people in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, on July 12, 1977, at 08:30 p.m. Adrian De Olmos Ordones, 42, was resting on the balcony of his house when he saw a very small figure, 40 feet away across the street, slip under the barbed wire fence of a farm and walk toward a street lamp post 20 feet away.

He was 3.5 foot tall, and covered by a green garment that seemed to be inflated with air; a large metallic helmet with a glass front encased the head and came to slight point on top, surmounted by a short extension with a luminous point on top. On his back was a box like a knapsack. The witness also observed that he had only four fingers, that his feet were similar to a duck's and that he had a tail, not long enough to reach the ground. In his right hand he had a small shiny object.

The witness had his daughter bring him pencil and paper so he could make a sketch, but by mistake she turned on the balcony light; the being, startled, ran back to the fence, passed under it, and then stopped and put his hand on his belt. Two red and two blue lights appeared on the backpack with two jets of sparks, aiming downwards, accompanied by a sound like an electric drill. With that, the being ascended 10 feet into the air, lifting his tail, and flew horizontally to a grove of trees 150 yards away.

Mr. Olmos, his family, and neighbors watched the lights of the figure as he moved about the trees for 10 minutes, in company with another light. During this period the cattle on the adjacent farm "went crazy," running about and lowing.

The next day, tracks presumably left by the humanoid were found and photographed at the site. A neighbor woman had seen a luminous object descend into the wooded area two days previously.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Sebastian Robiou Lamarche and Jorge Martin.

[Ref. sc1:] SCOTT CORRALES:

Scott Corrales indicates that in 1977 a small alien which carried a green uniform and a helmet with flashing white and red lights was seen by several people in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico.

Points to consider:

Left: This drawing appears in several collection of entities drawing as the one seen in this case. There is no other information about it.

Here is a sighting of long duration, partly at close distance, with several witnesses, some possibly independent, with at least one investigation, in which no commonplace explanation of what the entity could have been if not an extraterrestrial visitor appears to me.
