MARCH 4, 1977, SUNDOWN, MANITOBA, CANADA, A MAN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Chris Rutkowski, well known Manitoba no-nonsense ufologist, seems to have collected the testimony of a man who drove the witness was driving east towards his farm near Sundown Manitoba, Canada, on March 4, 1977, at 06:00 a.m., when he sighted a shimmering oval shaped light source directly ahead of him, hovering just above the roadway.

It was whitish-yellow in color, and he drove directly underneath the object. Driving further, he suddenly came upon three strange figures standing on the road ahead of him, in an evenly spaced row across the road.

These figures were short and somewhat shaped like bowling pins. Their heads were bulbous and they had a narrow neck with a flared body.

The witness applied the brakes, but could not stop in time. Amazingly, he felt absolutely nothing as he apparently drove over the figures; instead they seemed to disappear as he touched them with the front bumper, and to reappear as he looked back on his rear view mirror. They then seemed to shrink and vanish completely.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Sundown Manitoba, Canada, on March 4, 1977, at 06:00 a.m., the witness was driving east towards his farm when he sighted a shimmering oval shaped light source directly ahead of him hovering just above the roadway. It was whitish yellow in color. The witness drove directly underneath the object. As he drove further on he suddenly came upon three strange figures standing on the road ahead of him. They stood in a row spaced evenly across the road. The figures were short and somewhat shaped like bowling pins. Their heads were bulbous and they had a narrow neck with a flared body. The witness applied the brakes, but could not stop in time. He felt absolutely nothing as he apparently drove over the figures. They seemed to disappear as he touched them with the front bumper. As he looked back on his rear view mirror he saw the figures reappear. They then seemed to shrink and vanish completely.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Chris Rutkowski, Unnatural History True Manitoba Mysteries.

Points to consider:

This is a testimony that leaves me dumbfounded. It is very tempting to think that it was some "mirage", obviously, or a "reflection of some sort"; but it is impossible to drive through a mirage, and the details given leave no clue as of what sort of "reflection" it could have been, without counting that the UFO needs an explanation too. The case can hardly receive a firm conclusion in this state, and it would have been interesting to dig deeper into it, with a reconstitution on the location under similar conditions, for example.
