JUNE 1972, MONTE MORO, NOVARE, ITALY, ANTONIO DE ROSA:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Among the contactees circles in Italy in the early seventies, one figure was a certain Antonio de Rosa, who introduced hemself as a radio technician and whose initial hobby was to set up some radio equipment in some sort of "observatory" in Monte Moro to listen to Soviet and US spacecraft,

De Rosa than claimed that one evening he was there to tune his radio receiver, when therer was a power black-out, and he froze in terror because three wo meters tall individuals stood front of him. They had a face framed of fine fair hair and carried tight-fitting suits of silver plated color.

One showed him "a star" that De Rosa immediately indentified as planet Venus, another gave him some object that resemble a piece of quartz stone, that de Rosa claimed was a telepathy communication device he would use from then on.

Of course there was a flying saucer "of oval form and of gigantic size" where the beings then went and which then "disappeared in a dazzling flash", and many following encounters with the blonde friends from Betelgueze that came with "peaceful intentions" and are "3000 years in advance." There are also wild claims that NASA invited de Rosa and that he "very highly intrigued the American ufologists."

De Rosa took a picture of his space friends, unfortunately for him, it seems that ufologist Edoardo Russo found that it was actually only a reproduction of a scene from an Hungarian Science-Fiction movie.

De Rosa's adventures seemingly continued by conferences about an official landing of his space friends due on January 15, 1972 at 02:00 p.m. in the town of Nora. De Rosa and his wife stayed there at an inn, gave much interviews, and when the day of the official space brothers landing approached, he fled, but was caught at an airport by the police who charged him of fraudulent insolvency, as he left the inn without paying his bill.

[Ref. jr1:] JACQUES RIVOYRE:

The author indicates that some people who believe in the existence of extraterrestrials and the intermittent appearances of their spaceships on our planet created in Ossalano in Piedmont, a ufologic and astronomical research center to gather various testimonys from inhabitants of the province. They then published from time to time long reports of astonishing accounts. On July 28, 1973 they published the fantastic adventure of a 32 years old Piedmont man, radio operator technician, named Antonio de Rosa.

De Rosa was installing Antonio de Rosa a small station amateur to follow the launching of the satellites and American and Soviet spaceships on Mount Moro, close to the small town of Macugnaga in the province of Novare, in June 1972.

Around 11:30 p.m. one evening, he was there to tune his radio receiver, when the power went off. While he was trcing to find the cause of the blackout, he suddenly froze in terror because three individuals almost two meters tall stood front of him.

They had a face framed of fine fair hair and carried tight-fitting suits of silver plated color. One of them approached him, took him by the shoulder and showed him "a star" that De Rosa immediately indentified as planet Venus. Then, a second character joined them and put a round and shining object of regular shape, resembling a small piece of quartz stone, in de Rosa's hand.

Recovering little by little from his stupor, De Rosa walked a bit and suddenly distinguished within ten meters in front of him "a strange apparatus of oval form and of gigantic size." There was a large door folded back towards the outside in the center of the craft which is used as access. A few seconds later, the three unknown beings go to their craft; which slowly rose , vertically, producing a gentle humming sound, until it reached an approximate altitude of 200 meters, and disappeared in a dazzling flash.

De Rosa specifies that he remained in telepathic contact with these mysterious beings thanks to the "stone" they handed him and that he met them again seven times "in the same circumstances of time and place."

The last meeting was on August 16, 1972, while De Rosa is with "a certain Cosimo Vita", resident of the small town of Palanza on the edges of the Lake Maggiore. "But the witness, frightened" at the sight of the saucer, fled fast and was satisfied to observe the scene at a 500 meters distance.

Four "blonde creatures" "emerged" from the saucer, approached him and expressed themselves only by telepathic messages, making de Rosa understand that they came with peaceful and friendly intentions. One of them collected samples of grass, ground and rocks, with the care like a botanist's. Then "they go back to their craft and disappear in the same way."

De Rosa stated that his/her "friends" have a base station on Venus but they are originating from star Betelgeuze in the constellation of Orion, and belong to "the most advanced race of the galaxy", their civilization being 3000 years in advance compared to ours. Their saucers move three times faster than light.

De Rosa, who was concerned about credibility, had taken along a Polaroid camera and took two photographs at the time of the opening of the saucer. The author indicates that these photographs constitute, together with the "stone" the "two only tangible evidence of his incredible mishap."

The author finishes by indicating that De Rosa, with the hard evidence he presented to his listeners, "very highly intrigued the American ufologists" who invited him to reproduce, "in the space center of Houston, Texas", his radio installation of Mount Moro.

[Ref. iu1:] ITALIAN UFO REPORTER:

In #9 of the Italian UFO Reporter ufology magazine, for December 1988, Italian ufologist Edoardo Russo indicates that the Italian contactee Antonio De Rosa claimed to have photographed two Venusians on board of their spaceship at Piana di Megolo, Novara, on August 16, 1972. The alleged photographs were actually only a reproduction of a scene from an Hungarian Science-Fiction movie.

[Ref. og1:] OTTO GABOS:

The italian comic books author and draughtsman Otto Gabos reports the case in its satirical book on contactees stories. He indicates that Antonio De Rosa was a radio operator and technician who claimed in 1972 to have met three bolond two meters tall beings that told him to come from Venus. It occurrend in the locality of Monte Moro, close to Macugnaga, where his observatory was. The beings left him an unknown stone similar to quartz, and slipped inside a flying saucer which flew away.

From then on, de Rosa claimed to remain in telepathic liaison with his/her "Venusian friends" and to have met them several times. On one occasion, these Venusian expressed their intention to organize an "official" landing on the Earth on January 15, 1972 at 02:00 p.m. in the town of Nora, 30 kilometers from Cagliari. With a NASA technician, Rocco Petroni, who assisted him, he gave a series of quite unsensational interviews, in which he described the Venusians as peaceful people but very advanced from the technological point of view. Because of these interviews, De Rosa and his wife stayed for free in an inn of Nora, and when the day of the official Venusian landing approached, he fled.

He had not been abducted by the Venusians, but simply escaped without paying his bill. He then had a close encounter shown in the newspapers, but not with the Venusians, instead, with the police force that arrested him at an airport when he tried to leave Sardinia, and he was charged of crookery and fraudulent insolvency.

Points to consider:

The UFO sstudy group mentioned by author Paul Rivoyre was actually the "Hermandad Cósmica", "Cosmic Fraternity" group, an association founded by another, more famous contactee, Eugenio Siragusa.
