JANUARY 18, 1967, SJAELLANDS ODDE, SJAELLANDS, DENMARK, JESPER ANDERSEN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Jesper Andersen, 7 years old, came forward to claimed that on January 18, 1967, he was outside with another older boy, Tage Jensen, and his little sister of 4 years, and the they had decided to go back home as it became dark.

But they noted something in the air straight in front of them, that they first believed to be a whirlwind, before realizing it was a solid dark grey object.

Tage Jensen became scared and run home with his sister and told about what they saw to his mother. She looked outside from a window, but could not see anything.

Jesper had stayed outside and observed the unknown object. After a while and for safety's sake, he hid himself, in such a place that he could actually see the object against the valley's background.

He saw three "legs" that deployed at the bottom of the object, and it seemed to him that it was preparing to land. However, when it was only a couple of meters above the earth, the "legs" again retracted into the apparatus, and it started to move up to the sky. It then flew in straight level towards the shore of the Kattegat.

Jesper then saw something that resembled a basket being lowered down amid the object, attached to a cable thick like an arm, and from a hole in the craft, eight little being jumped into that "basket."

These little beings were not taller that the boy, and he could tell that they had long faces and long noses.

Seven of them had fair and short hair and a striped suit while the last one had dark brown hair and a blue suit. The eight of them wore a cap on the head.

Jesper was also able to tell that the weird beings had some transparent containers at the back, like a diver's package, with a hose that went from the pack to their mouths. They had lights on their shoulders, and carried objects like binoculars or cameras.

The object flew low above the shore and actually flew near to the boy at an angle, so that he managed to see the beings were smiling down at him. They apparently also waved their hands at the boy, but not the usual waving, since they held their palms vertically and agitated the arms horizontally. Then, a faint humming noise was heard, compared to the sound of a battery tape recorder, the basket went up again and the weird apparatus flew away.

While the apparatus had been hovering above the shore, according to the boy, something had been thrown off onto the beach.

The case surfaced apparently only 4 months later in the newspapers and at least one SUFOI ufologist interviewed the kid. SUFOI managed to get approximately 50 kilograms of that stuff, a sort of lump of a dark material.

They forwarded it for analysis at the Technological Institute, and received back an extensive analysis report. The report however concluded that there was nothing found about what the black stuff was of from where it came from.

It was the local residents who found out that it was actually the content from a paper sack of clay that one of them had thrown away on the beach as the aged protection paper had made the stuff too hard to be used.

LANDING REPORTS

DENMARK Sjaellands Odde (Date not known)

The observation was made by two schoolboys "some time ago". The sighting came to light when the boys' mother got in touch with "Rude Skov satellite tracking station", which referred her to the central report office of Scandinavian UFO Information [SUFOI]. This organization sent a representative to Sjaellands Odde to interview the boys. His report was published in the magazine of the organization UFO-NYT.

The two boys were playing in front of a large haystack. As it got dark they decided to return home. One of them looked up and noticed a dark grey object in the sky. He thought it was a waterspout and ran home. The other boy was less frightened and he hid in a ditch, from where he continued to observe the object.

The boy said that he saw the object descend, then it quickly slowed down, as three "legs" were lowered through the bottom of it. It looked very much as if it was going to land. When the object was about three feet above the ground the legs were pulled up again and it speeded. The object continued towards the Kattegat (the sea) at a low altitude and when it was over the shore it released what looked like "boxes".

The object then made a turn over the sea and a big box, or hamper, was lowered from the craft. It seemed to be suspended from a sort of rope or cable as thick as an arm. Judging from its movements the cable was flexible. Then eight "persons" came out through a hole in the flying object and climbed down the cable into the box. The boy thought that they were carrying "binoculars or cameras".

Four of the beings waved their hands and smiled at the boy. The boy said that they did not wave their hands in the usual way, but held their palms vertically and made quick horizontal movements.

As the object disappeared the boy heard a sound which he compared to the soft humming from a battery tape recorder.

The boy described the eight persons as being quite small. One of them wore a blue suit and the others wore striped ones. They all wore striped caps. Apart from the person in blue, they all had containers on their backs from which tubes led to their mouths. On their shoulders they had what looked like electric torches, with lights at both ends.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Sjaellands, Denmark on April 13, 1967, at dusk, two young boys saw a dark gray object overhead.

One boy ran home, the other hid in a ditch.

The object descended and put out three legs as if to land, then retracted them and moved out over the Kattegat; as it passed over the shore, it threw out some "boxes."

Hovering low over the water, the object lowered a box, or car on an arm thick cable, and 8 small humanoid figures emerged from the large object and descended on the cable.

They were the same size as the boy and all but one wore striped suits and had scuba like packs on their backs form, which tubes led to their mouths; the eight occupants wore a blue uniform and had no pack. They all wore striped caps and had lights on their shoulders, and carried objects like binoculars or cameras.

They waved to the boy before the object disappeared.

On the shore was later found a lump of strange material, which was analyzed and found to be an unprecedented mixture of substances.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is FSR Vol. 13 # 5.

Willy Wegner indicates that in April 1967, some newspapers wrote about an occurence at Sjaelands Odde of that year.

Points to consider:

As the accounts remaining available are rather fragmentary, with grey areas and little evaluation of the personality of the child who was the single witness and was only 7 years old, it hardly appears useful to risk elaborate comments on the case.
