Ultima Hora, a Buenos Aires, Argentina, newspaper, reported on August 2, 1965, that Alberto San Roman Nunez, a 15-year old boy, near Lima, Peru, claimed that at about 7 p.m. on August 1, 1965, just as it was getting dark, he saw a UFO land on the roof of a building, and saw a creature emerge from it.
He described the creature as "greenish with hair all covered with green lights, and looking like a toad."
Three days later, on August 5, 1965, Diario de Sao Paulo, a Brazilian newspaper published an Associated Press communiqué from Lima explaining that the boy contradicted himself when interviewed by the police and had finally confessed that he had been reading too much Science Fiction. The police also determined that the marks found on the roof of his house had been made by the rim of an automobile wheel.

Gordon Creighton indicates that a boy living in Lima, Peru, claimed that at about 7 p.m. on August 1, 1965, just as it was getting dark, he saw a UFO land on the roof of a building, and saw a creature emerge from it. But two days later, however, another newspaper explained that the boy had now confessed: he had been reading too much Science Fiction.
He indicates that the sources are the newspaper Ultima Hora, of Buenos Aires, for August 2, 1965, and Diario de Sâo Paulo, for August 5, 1965.
Creighton indicates that "one would be inclined to accept this explanation" but because of the next case and yet another case in Argentina a month later, "one is not quite so sure."
The "next case" given by the author is actually that according to the news agency Reuter on August 7, 1965, in Lima, Peru, the authorities had recently arrested a band of dangerous cat-burglars, led by an individual with the nickname of "Pygmy", who had been masquerading as "Martians" and, taking advantage of the current fantastic wave of flying saucer reports in Lima, fitted themselves out with "space-suits" and had perpetrated a series of bold armed robberies end attacks against householders.
He indicates that the source of the above story is the Diario Popular, of Sâo Paulo, for August 7, 1965.
Creighton explains that a great many of the more than 800 UFO reports received by Flying Saucer Review from the Latin press in 1965 were, like this one, put out by the British news agency, Reuter. But when he wrote to their London office that year to ask why none of these remarkable Reuter messages from Latin America got into the British press, they replied that it was now impossible to investigate such a question, as it was all so long ago.
