1959, WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, OHIO, USA, LEON B. VISSE:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

In his book "Preuves Scientifiques OVNIS" in 1981, Jean-Charles Fumoux claims that Leon B Visse, presumedly expert in histons, proteins of the chromosomes, was invited in 1959 at the US Air Force base of Wright-Patterson, where he was asked him to make measurements of the "histonic weight" of particular cells, that he found much lower than in the human cells, prompting him to ask what life form they were from.

To his amazement, Visse was taken along in a special room where two humanoid corpses of more than 2.10 meters were stored, having suffered damage as in an accident. The heads were intact, with high and broad faces, very long blonde hair, eyes stretched towards the temples which gave them an Asian look, a small nose, a small mouth with perfectly traced thin lips.

In spite of small differences in their facial aspects, the humanoids resembled twins. The bodies had been preserved in formaldehyde but remained perfectly white, apparently missing melanine pigment. The eyes were light blue and seemed nothing different from the normal. The hands were like those of human but thin, whereas their feet were absolutely flat, with little toes.

Narratives:

[Ref. an1:] ANONYMOUS:

In a book by Jean-Charles Fumoux in 1981 entitled "Preuves Scientifiques OVNI", the author relates how Leon B. Visse, an alleged expert on histons (elements connected with cellular genetic material) was invited in 1959 to a military compound at Wright-Patterson AFB, where he was asked to perform an experiment on the histonic weight of particular cells. Visse was later taken into a special room where he viewed two humanoid corpses.

[Ref. si1:] "SKEPTICAL ENQUIRER":

The authors review the "Case Closed" report published by the US Air Force on the Roswell incident and the US Air Force explanation that the so-called "Roswell aliens" were military anthropomorphic dummies ejected from high altitude Skyhook ballons to test parachutes. They say that the Air Force report provides actual witness statements that support this explanation, one of them being:

"Looked like twins" (Leon Visse, in Fumoux 1981).

[Ref. ww1:] WALTER WERNER:

German skeptical ufologist Werner Walter indicates that after Jacques Vallée went back to the USA in 1989 after the UFO congress of Lyon, he was received there by his friends with a strange rumour. It was said a doctor in France practised the autopsy of extraterrestrials. Werner Walter quotes Vallée saying "After having laughed at these rumours, I expected that many of these rumours would simply disappear from themselves. But instead, the noises became more precise: my contact man was Dr. Leon Visse, I was told he lived in a small place near Montlucon", we know his work. Werner Walter indicates that Vallée indeed visited this man at that time, but the thing had nothing to do with his medical work nor with UFOs and aliens and was of private nature.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, in 1959, in the evening, Leon B. Visse, an expert on histones (proteins connected with cellular genetic material), was invited to a military compound at Wright-Patterson, where he was asked to perform an experiment on the histonic weight of particular cells. In the first experiment Visse found an inordinately low histonic weight---far lower than in human cells. Either he was mistaken or there had to be a complete revision of genetic theories, he reasoned. But Visse obtained the same results when he repeated the experiment, so he asked if he could look at the organism from which the cells came. To his astonishment, Visse was taken into a special room where the corpses of two humanoids lay. The bodies were very tall---a little over 7 ft---and from their terrible injuries they appeared to have been in an accident, although the heads were intact, the forehead high and broad, very long blond hair. The eyes were stretched towards the temples, which gave them an Asiatic look. The nose and mouth were small. The lips were thin, perfectly delineated. Despite slight differences in their facial appearances, the two humanoids looked like twins. The bodies had been preserved in formaldehyde but remained perfectly white, apparently lacking the melanin granules, which cause normal human beings to tan in strong sunlight. The eyes were very light blue and looked no different from normal, Visse reported. The hands were human-like but slender, while their feet were absolutely flat, with small toes.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Jean-Charles Fumoux, "Preuves Scientifiques OVNI".

[Ref. ar2:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Speaking about another case dated 1953, Albert Rosales comments that the two Nordic bodies were later seen at Wright Patterson AFB by a French biologist (an expert in histones, or proteins connected with cellular genetic material), Dr. Leon Visse in 1959.

[Ref. pn1:] "PARANORMAL NEWS" WEBSITE:

According to a book by Timothy Good, in 1959, a scientist name Leon B. Visse who was a specialist in elements connected with cellular genetic material was invited to Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio for an experiment to test histonic weight in certain materials. He was later taken into a special room where corpses of two humanoids lay. They were seven feet tall and looked as if they had been in an accident. They had very long blond hair and looked slightly Asian. The nose and mouth were small and the lips thin. They had been preserved in formalin. Visse admitted somewhat to the story in 1969, after being sworn to secrecy for ten years.

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:

The website indicates that in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, USA, in 1959, at 08:00 p.m., Leon B. The eyes were very light blue and looked no different from normal, Visse reported. The hands were human-like but slender, while their feet were absolutely flat, with small toes.

Points to consider:

Obviously the story was taken from Jean-Charles Fumoux in several later sources but never really investigated.

The explanation by the Skeptical Enquirer article is nevertheless remarkably stupid. The authors think that the mention than the alien looked like twins is a sign that they were actually anthropomorphic dummies. One wonders why they should be 2.10 meters tall, with lon blonde hair, and kept in formaldehyde! This is a fine example of nonsensical skeptical approach; in which everyhting in a report is silenced except the one detail that seems to prove a point.

Moreover, it seems to me after checking, that none of the US Air Force reports of the Roswell incident mentions any testimony by Leon Visse.

Insofar as I could check, I found absolutely no trace of any "Leon B. Visse" or "Leon Visse" in Montluçon and in the Allier department or elsewhere in France as of 2008. I found nobody in the field of biology or genetics of that name in any of the database of scientific papers. The only mention of one Leon Visse I found was that on Léon Visse, of Algiers, Algeria, in 1952 at the time a French-controlled territory, wrote a paper titled "Genèse des gites phosphatés du Sud-Est Algéro-Tunisien"; i.e., a geology paper, with absolutely nothing to do with biology.

It should be noted that "Léon Visse" is very, very infrequent name in France, since this is the only reference to that name I could find on the Internet and French phonebooks.

Of course it is totally silly that the US military should need a French citizen, apparently a geologist and not a biologist, or even a French biologist, to help them, and even sillier that they would show him alien bodies and have him swear a 10 years secrecy when the "need-to-know" rule applies and they would simply rather not show any alien bodies.
