December 1930, Salisbury, Wiltshire, U-K., quelqu'un:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

British ufologist Peter Rogerson found in a 1948 or 1952 ghost stories book a case he included in his INTCAT "entities" sightings catalogue in 1973. He said that one night in December 1930, one Mr. Stoneham was driving on the Salisbury to Banford - likely Blanford Forum - road, in England, he saw a black mist approach him.

In it was an object of indeterminate shape. As the mist seemed to envelope his lorry, projections resembling luminous hands seemed to grasp at him.

These "hands" were described differently in the different sources: Rogerson said "luminous hands", Albert Rosales said "gory looking hand", others said "grey looking hand" or even "luminous gory looking hands".

The source given by Rogerson is the book "Haunted Britain" by Elliott O’Donnell, citing the newspaper Bristol Evening Times and Echo for December 23, 1930 as the original source.

Narratives:

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Salisbury, England, in December 1930, at night, "The witness was driving on the Salisbury-Banford road when he saw a black mist approaching him; inside the mist there was an object of an indeterminate shape. As the mist enveloped the witness's vehicle he was grabbed by luminous "gory looking hand," then apparently released. No other information."

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Peter Rogerson, Mufob Vol. 6 # 1".

[Ref. st1:] "SJHSTRANGETALES":

The last story is probably the most bizarre of the lot. One night in December 1930 a man was driving alone along the Salisbury-Bamford road when he saw a black mist coming towards him. Inside the mist was an object of indeterminate shape and size. The mist gradually enveloped the witness’ vehicle, and he said he was then grabbed by a "grey-looking hand", which eventually released him.

O’Donnell 1948 p66 citing Bristol Evening Times and Echo 23 December 1930.

Points to consider:

There is no "Banford" in the Salisbury region. It was probably Blanford Forum, located 32 km south-west of Salisbury, with a road joining the two cities.

We have here a story probably reported in 1930 shortly after the alleged occurrence, apparently. It seems to be halfway between a ghost story and a close encounter of the third kind - there is an "quasi-UFO" and an "quasi-occupant".

But the story is very undetailed and I do not really see what certainties could be written about it.
