Dear Major Keyhoe,

I want to apologize if I express myself in Italian: unfortunately, I do not know English well enough to write it, but I can read it. So, if you want to be kind enough to answer me, do it in English.

I read these days the Italian edition of your book "Flying saucers from outer space": what you have written is most interesting especially for me, passionate for years about the problem of the "flying disks" (although I have never seen one)

I am one of the members of the "Center for the Study of Electromagnetic Aviation", created in Rome by Dr. Alberto Perego (former Italian Consul, now Repetiteur), who published a detailed report of the observations that took place place until this year.

The question of the "discs", as you wrote in your book, is of enormous importance; I believe it too, but there are reasons to be perplexed. Although I realize that official recognition by the government of the origin of these flying machines would probably create some political and economic disruption, I still can not understand why they remain silent.

It is as if the government is convinced that its people were made of a crowd of rabbits, rather than more or less intelligent people (in fact, you also wrote that the government is afraid of spreading panic). This seems to me completely absurd: indeed, we all live in the constant danger that a war breaks out at any moment; your forward base bombers fly 24 hours a day with bombs; certainly the Russians certainly do the same; not to mention, then, the missiles.

We all know what a terrible thermonuclear war is, without remedy, even though, for the moment, the United States has a slight advance over Russia. What danger is greater than total destruction? Yet, despite this imminent threat, people continue to maintain a certain calm, to close deals, to build homes, to travel, to love as before (or almost).

If, as is very likely, the pilots of the "flying saucers" are not hostile, why not officially admit them? Even if they do not know their intentions, I think it would not create any panic to tell the whole truth. So what?

Another unclear point is the fact that so far no way has been found to get in touch with these extraterrestrial pilots. Even if we admit that secret service technicians from different states have already established contacts with these pilots and still want to keep the secret, I cannot understand why no private party (for example, a telecommunications expert, some universities, a large private industry, etc.) failed to communicate with them. It should not be impossible.

I know there is someone who claims to have done this; but, strangely,

Egregio Maggiore Keyhoe,

no great publicity has been given to the thing.

In your book, you mentioned George Adamski, without giving it much importance: have you tried to see what is true in this regard?

There are also those who say that Adamski has already been approached by people appointed by your government to communicate with pilots of "flying disks". Is it true?

Maybe you have the chance to know this.

So, to conclude, the most important thing is not whether the "discs" are round or oval, whether they are big or small, white or red, or what form of energy they use to move, but rather to know where they come from and what their pilots want: to achieve this, one has to communicate with them.

I would like to ask you, Dear Major, to write to me what you know today about this question. I trust your courtesy for a clear and quick answer.

In the meantime, I wish you a happy birthday and best regards.
